Hello, I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in Northern California who graduated from Humboldt State University. I have been practicing for the past 10 years after switching career from Engineering. Throughout my career as a therapist, I have been working as a children's therapist and clinical director for a program that serves older adults. During the last 3 years I have been focusing full time on adults with mild to severe mental health challenges. In addition to using evidenced based practice, I believe that clients are best served by empowerment. I approach therapy from a solutions based perspective to help clients work towards living fulfilled lives and reaching their goals.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

During the first session we will focus on getting to know each other and explore how therapy can be of help. We will explore your goals during the first session and use them as a guide for the therapeutic process.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

Having worked with a variety of different people, and being a bit older, has provided me with tools and insights that will allow me to address the different challenges that clients face. I find it easy to connect and collaborate with clients to find solutions. Therapy is hard but when committed it can result in transforming changes.

Describe the client(s) you are best positioned to serve.

I enjoy working with individuals that find themselves emotionally challenged by recent or past life events and now have a difficult time to move forward in a meaningful way. Assisting people to find purpose and happiness is truly a joy and I feel privileged to join others to help them find their way.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

During my entire career I have been using CBT as a foundation therapeutic approach. CBT is an evidenced based practice that is generally useful since it can be used to treat a variety of thought and associated emotional challenges.

Dialectical Behavior (DBT)

For the past 5 years, DBT is another treatment modality that I have extensively used to address thought related challenges. Primarily I use this modality for individuals that find themselves struggling with being stuck in "emotional brain" and being overwhelmed by their feelings.

Mindfulness-Based Therapy

Another cornerstone approach that I used throughout my entire career to help with refocusing anxiety/depression towards being in the moment and enjoying the present.

Narrative

During the last 5 years I have used elements of Narrative Therapy to explore negative thoughts about self and examine if beliefs about the self are based on reality or the input from others.
