Get to know me

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

In our first session together, we'll start with brief introductions, then dive into the specific challenges you're facing. "What has happened to you that has you starting therapy? I will go over what my session expectations are around attendance, and participation. Together we will determine if we think we will be a good match.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

I have educational, professional and lived experience. I am a parent, a daughter, a friend, boss, co-worker, significant other. I have experienced grief, loss, profound happiness, successes and failures. I provide therapy and have received therapy. I pull from all of those rolls and experiences when in session. I work hard at being impartial, considering all perspectives, emphasizing your strengths as person, and normalizing feelings and emotions.

The clients I'm best positioned to serve

I love working with high school or college athletes navigating all of the responsibilities and pressure that come with being a student athlete. Women beginning the journey of motherhood, or navigating the sometimes long and difficult journey of menopause. First responder trauma. People living with high functioning depression or anxiety helping them feel seen and heard needing a " little extra" in way of support. People looking for guidance with time management, prioritizing self-care. Parent/child relationship struggles.

Going to therapy is not something that is common in my family. I was afraid to take this step but quickly realized that this is something I would benefit from. Kathy was nothing short of amazing, she was easy to talk to. She is empowering, realistic and relatable. I’m looking forward to my next session.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

I have been using CBT for around 20 years and it is the approach that I start all therapy relationships with CBT teaches us to stop in the moment and acknowledge what we are thinking and how those thoughts affect our behavior.

Trauma Informed Care

Trauma informed care is at the core of my work. As a therapist I work from a strength based perspective, emphasizing a client's strengths, and providing choice ensuring that the client has control of the dynamic.

Mindfulness-Based Therapy

I believe that mindfulness goes hand in hand with CBT interventions. Mindfulness therapy encourages clients to take control of their lives through action and behavior modification, recognizing where they are and what they need in the moment.

Solution Focused Brief Treatment

I use solution focused therapy to assist clients to move through daily life stressors. Day to day life can become overwhelming sometimes. SFT allows for focused task orientated sessions that provide relatively quick and effective resolution
