Nice to meet you! I'm a Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner based out of Franklin, Tennessee. I have been working in the mental health field since 2014 in a range of settings including inpatient, community mental health, residential, and long-term care. I received my doctorate from the University of TN Health Science Center, and my master's degree from Vanderbilt University as a Family Nurse Practitioner.
Before the first session, I will send you some consents and intake questionnaires to complete before I see you for the first time. These are separate from Grow's forms. During the first session, I like to get a good picture of who you are and why you're coming to see me for your mental health. We will go over your intake form and I'll clarify any questions I have about your history and current issues. We will discuss your goals for treatment as well as things that haven't worked for you in the past. By the end of the visit, we should have a plan of care for you to help get some changes in motion.
I truly enjoy learning about each person's unique qualities and how I can best help you be the person you want to be. I look at all aspects of a person's life, from your psychiatric history, your family, job, social life, trauma, diet, sleep, health, and other aspects, to be able to create a plan that will help you achieve your greatest self. I appreciate open communication and collaboration about your care. I want you to be involved in the decision-making process just as much as I am.
I enjoy working with people who want to become the best version of themselves, even though it may be difficult. I consider it my job to partner with you as you work to bring about the positive changes you want to see in yourself.
I use mindfulness-based therapy during medication management visits to help my patients learn to recognize their feelings, thoughts, and emotions in the moment so they can decrease automatic negative reactions. We will explore how relaxation, awareness exercise, and thoughtful meditation practices can contribute to better mental health.
