New to Grow
I bring curiosity, empathy, and a genuine interest in understanding each person’s story to every session. I was born in Connecticut, spent a decade living and working in New Orleans, and now reside in Massachusetts. These experiences give me a unique perspective on different communities, cultures, and ways of life, which I bring to my work with clients. I am licensed in these three states and am certified in Trauma-Focused CBT, Grief and Trauma Intervention, and basic trained in EMDR, as well as crisis intervention training. My experience spans clinical social work, school social work, teaching, clinical management, and program development, giving me a broad perspective on supporting clients of all ages and family systems. I take a flexible, creative approach, empowering clients to build skills, gain insight, and make meaningful changes at a pace that works for them.
In our first session, we will review your intake and assessment results, explore your goals and hopes for therapy, and discuss what you want to achieve. If you’re unsure of your goals, we will start with some “get to know you” questions to build our therapeutic relationship and gradually clarify your goals as we learn more about your history and what matters to you. We will also take time to answer any questions you have about me and my approach to therapy.
I am deeply compassionate and a careful listener, creating a safe space where you can feel truly seen. I value patience in therapy, allowing each person to move at their own pace and giving time for growth, understanding, and healing to unfold naturally. I help people connect with their own strengths and discover resilience they may not have recognized.
I have clinical experience working with clients navigating difficult experiences and seeking guidance, support, or new ways to cope. Whether you are managing trauma, grief, PTSD, anxiety, depression, or challenges with focus and organization, I bring tools and strategies to help you move forward at a pace that feels right for you. I enjoy helping clients recognize their strengths, explore solutions, and develop practical skills they can use in everyday life. I provide a supportive and nonjudgmental space for anyone thinking about starting or returning to therapy. I meet each person where they are and move at a pace that feels comfortable, helping you build confidence and skills along the way. My goal is to help you feel understood and supported, no matter what brought you to therapy. Together, we explore your challenges and strengths in a way that feels safe and manageable. I am here to help you take small steps toward feeling better and more in control of your life.
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
I have integrated Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) throughout my career, using it as a foundational approach alongside other therapeutic techniques. I value CBT for its ability to help clients recognize patterns in their thoughts and behaviors, gently challenge unhelpful beliefs, and develop healthier, more balanced ways of thinking. By weaving CBT into my work, I support clients in building practical skills they can use in everyday life to create lasting change.
EMDR
I am basic trained in EMDR and value its ability to help clients process traumatic experiences so they are stored more adaptively, rather than feeling as though they are being relived in the present. I have found EMDR to be a powerful modality, especially for clients who struggle to verbalize their experiences. It allows healing to occur in a less verbally driven, more body-based way. While EMDR is not for everyone, I will always take it at a pace that feels safe and appropriate, often weaving it together with other therapeutic approaches to best support each client.
Grief Therapy
I have dedicated my career to supporting youth and families impacted by trauma and grief, which led me to specialize and become certified in Grief and Trauma Intervention (GTI) for youth. Through my work with parents and caregivers, I have also developed extensive experience helping adults navigate their own experiences of loss. I am committed to providing a supportive, compassionate space where individuals can process grief and build the tools needed to care for themselves and their loved ones.
Strength-Based
I take a strengths-based approach in my work, helping clients identify and build on their existing resilience, abilities, and personal resources. I believe that each individual brings unique strengths to therapy, and I work collaboratively to highlight and expand those in support of their goals. By focusing on what is already working, I help clients foster confidence, empowerment, and meaningful, sustainable change.
Culturally Sensitive Therapy
I practice culturally sensitive therapy by recognizing and respecting each client’s unique cultural background, values, and experiences. I strive to create a safe and inclusive space where clients feel understood and supported in their identity. By integrating cultural awareness into the therapeutic process, I help clients explore challenges and strengths in a way that honors who they are.
