I am a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner who practices in the State of Connecticut. I have been working in the field of psychiatry since 2017 where I've gained valuable experience and education about different modalities to treat various psychiatric diagnoses. This includes but is not limited to bipolar disorder, major depressive disorder, and ADHD to mention just a few.
On the first session the patient will be able to express themselves without judgment or stigmas that may be related to their diagnosis. Patients may share any concerns they have during the first session. It is also important to develop a therapeutic relationship when switching to a new provider for the client to be heard. I will listen and we will work on a wellness plan together.
One of my greatest strengths is that l empathize with patients irrespective of their religion, race, political background, gender identification, or history. I also make it a priority to keep up to date with current medications and other treatment modalities so that our journey together will be as successful as possible
Many patients who battle mental illness at different levels are often afraid or ashamed to seek treatment. In more recent times some psychiatric diagnoses are scoffed at, and as a result, those who are suffering from diagnoses such as bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, OCD and other disorders are afraid 2 seek treatment. Like any other disease processes such as diabetes are hypertension, patients also need help in targeting their illnesses so that they can be functional as close to an optimal level as possible.
Dulcimina Welsh offers therapy covered by Husky Health and Medicaid in Connecticut.
Psychoeducation is used as an avenue to educate patients about their current diagnosed disease. In most cases, patients who are informed about the disease process are more likely to engage in continued treatment of their diagnoses
