Hi! As a clinical psychologist, I have the training to diagnose and treat the widest variety of mental health problems. I am a scientist-practioner, meaning I will use research tested methods to treat your problems. I have 30 years of expertise working with children, teens, adults, and couples. Ph.D.- Nova Southeastern University Internship- Behavioral Pediatrics, Kennedy-Krieger Inst., Johns Hopkins School of Medicine Residency- Adult Psychiatry, Univ. of Florida, Jacksonville Campus Licensed -Florida & Colorado
At our first appointment, I will ask you, “What can I help you with?”. My style is to start helping at the first appointment, gathering additional information as we go along. As you talk about what is happening in your life, I will be listening. I will tell you what I think based on my training and 30 years of experience. You will tell me what you need based on what's important to you. After your first appointment, you will breathe easier, knowing that there is a plan. My best advice: Choose a therapist who connects with and inspires you! The relationship with your therapist is shown to increase your chances of a positive outcome, no matter what type of therapy you do.
My dedication to helping you get better and my ‘never give up’ attitude is often appreciated. I was called the ‘research queen’ during my internship years and I continue to research & keep up to date in the field of mental health.
I work with people at a variety of crossroads in their lives. If you are facing a situation that is challenging and you are motivated to problem-solve, want professional help, or just don’t want to go through it alone; I can help. With the greatest of care and respect, I will guide you, teach you, and encourage you as you make the changes you want to make. Most commonly treated problems include depression, anxiety, and relationship issues. I have specialized expertise working with: eating disorders, neurodiversity, chronic pain, sports performance, executive performance coaching, senior health, veteran's issues, and faith based counseling.
While I am fluent in many types of therapy, CBT is my favorite for the treatment of anxiety, depression, and anger management. Change your thoughts to change your feelings and behaviors!
For the things we cannot change, this therapy helps get back what you can control and helps you get back into fully living!
If you are experiencing a pattern of same-old relationship problems, this may be the therapy for you. I combine attachment therapy with schema therapy to help you make real lasting changes in your life.
I respect the role that faith has in life and in healing and am happy to meet you where you are in your spiritual journey. I have experience in teaching, leading, and mentoring.
In couples counseling, experience really helps! I have been helping couples and families for 30 years!
