Hello and welcome! I have been working as a therapist for 30 years, having offices formerly in Atlanta, Conyers, Loganville and Gainesville. I have graduate educational background in Clinical Social Work, Theology, Marriage & Family Therapy and Professional School Counseling. I now work in private practice and do tele-heath sessions exclusively for anyone living in the state of Georgia. I enjoy art, hiking, photography and live with my spouse and two dogs in Gainesville, Georgia and I have two grown children who live in Iowa and South Carolina.
In our first session you can expect I will be asking you questions to better know and understand you and what you want to achieve in therapy. I will give you time to explain the problems that brought you to therapy and give you feedback to help begin the healing process.
I believe I bring a unique blend of 30 years of experience working with different clients from many walks of life. I have used an eclectic mix of therapeutic approaches depending on the needs of the person. Clients report back that I have been spot on in understanding their problems and helping them approach them in a better way. I will be reliable, not be judgmental and treat you with kindness and respect as we go on this healing journey together.
I strive to create a safe space in which every person feels respected and comfortable sharing their struggles. Many persons who come to me for treatment are struggling with relationship problems, depression or anxiety, career issues, work stress, or parenting and blended family difficulties. I will listen and give feedback to help you tap into your inner strengths to approach problems in a new way. I will assist you in setting goals for therapy and provide you with research based tools and techniques to best meet your goals. I enjoy working with adults, teenagers, couples, and families of all configurations. When you are ready to take the next step toward balance and healing I will be here for you!
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
I will collaborate with you in discovering negative thinking patterns and behaviors and replace them with healthy alternatives while teaching you useful tools to deal with problems/stress and cope more effectively in life.
Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT)
As your therapist, I use this method in couples therapy to assist you and your partner in identifying and breaking out of stuck disconnection patterns. This helps create safety/trust and the ability to open up to each other and repair conflicts. If you & your partner are tired of the same arguments over and over and ready to make changes I am here to help.
Internal Family Systems (IFS)
For those who have experienced trauma, I use this model to assist in identifying parts of yourself and developing a compassionate relationship with these parts through strengthening the guidance of the Self/core center. If you overwhelmed from dealing with past trauma, we can work together to find balance and healing.
Solution Focused Brief Treatment
I utilize Solution Focused Brief Therapy to help you uncover strengths and resources and apply these to current problems. We will work together to to create solutions and make positive changes for your life.
