New to Grow
Hi there! My name is Angelica, and as the founder of Root & Bloom Counseling, I have created this space with a belief in your innate capacity for growth and healing. My passion is to help individuals to cultivate a life of profound well-being. I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker dedicated to supporting individuals through life challenges. With nearly 10 years of experience, my work focuses on helping you navigate the complexities of trauma, grief, anxiety, and depression.
Think of the first session as a conversation, not an interrogation. I am here to create a safe, non-judgmental space for you. I'll spend time getting to know you, go over important logistics (confidentiality, session structure, and billing), and explore your therapy goals.
Having almost 10 years of experience in working in outpatient and inpatient mental health settings has provided me with the unique opportunity of viewing individuals in different phases of their mental health recovery. Treatment approaches are not a one size fits all, so I ensure to look at each client with unique needs and tailor my approach to align best with your therapy goals.
My experience has shown that I work best with clients who are open to a journey of genuine healing and self-discovery. These clients are ready to explore the deeper roots of their challenges, rather than just treating the symptoms. I'm an ideal fit for individuals who are ready to heal from trauma, depression, and anxiety, reclaim their sense of safety, and process difficult memories. I also work well with those struggling with low self-esteem and boundaries, helping them learn to value their own worth. Ultimately, I thrive with clients who are willing to be vulnerable and engage in a collaborative process. My ideal client isn't someone who is "perfect," but someone who is brave enough to begin the journey of healing. It is an honor to do this work, and I look forward to the possibility of connecting with you!
CBT is a very practical, hands-on type of therapy that can be incredibly empowering. Imagine your mind is like a garden, and sometimes, certain thoughts can grow like weeds, choking out the beautiful flowers. These "weeds" are often unhelpful or negative thought patterns that can make you feel down, anxious, or stressed. It's a collaborative process where you and a I will work together to understand how your thoughts, feelings, and actions are all connected.
EMDR, stands for Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing, and is a powerful form of therapy that's often used to help people heal from difficult or traumatic experiences. EMDR is a deeply respectful and collaborative therapy that empowers you to unlock your brain's incredible capacity to heal itself, allowing you to move forward with a sense of peace and wholeness.
When you go through a traumatic event, your brain often tries to make sense of something that is senseless. This can lead to what are called "stuck points"—unhelpful beliefs that keep you from healing. CPT helps you gently challenge these beliefs and create a new understanding of the traumatic event.
I can provide a Christian faith-based approach to therapy for individuals who are seeking to integrate their Christian beliefs and values into your healing process. The core of Christian counseling is the belief that true healing comes from a holistic approach, addressing the mind, body, and spirit.
