I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) who has been practicing counseling for over 7 years. I was able to gain invaluable professional knowledge and experience assisting in the facilitation and growth of an outpatient program at a psychiatric hospital to address various mental health needs. For my last year at the hospital, I worked primarily with active and retired military duty personnel. I have been in private practice for over 5 years and primarily work with individuals that are dealing with trauma, existential crises or are adjusting to interpersonal relational issues. I specialize in mood disorders (e.g., anxiety, depression and anger), processing trauma, and with improving relationships. I am a compassionate and caring counselor that focuses on a collaborative relationship with my clients to support and encourage healthy strategies to resolve life stressors. My goal is helping clients feel healthy and able to more fully enjoy life.
In our first session together, we will go over a brief introduction, review confidentiality and scheduling issues, and discuss what are some of the specific challenges you are currently facing. We will discuss current and past contributing factors that will help me create a tailored treatment plan to meet your specific therapeutic needs.
Having worked with various populations and symptomology for over 7 years, I've developed the ability to provide the right therapeutic tool and discussion to address the client's current stressors and needs. Building collaborative relationships is the bedrock to my style as a counselor and I strive on providing a safe, and non-judgmental space to allow clients to process their thoughts and emotions to identify the contributing factors to current stressors and learn healthy coping skills, perceptions and strategies to resolve life's challenges.
I utilize CBT strategies to help challenge unhealthy or irrational thoughts that may promote negative emotions and an increase in symptoms of anxiety, anger, and depression. CBT is also helpful in treating PTSD, trauma, and relational issues and is deemed as an evidence-based model for therapy.
I believe having healthy relationship can be extremely beneficial to managing thoughts and emotions and providing support. I have worked with many individuals and couples in improving interpersonal relationships to help with building social support systems, improving self-confidence and identity, and resolving relational conflicts and developing and maintaining healthy relationships.
I have worked with many clients regarding building coping skills and healthy perceptions. Psychoeducation can be helpful in identifying adaptive strategies and concepts to fully understand diagnosis and symptoms, treatment methods and goals, building skills and improving confidence. Interactive discussions between the client and therapist are key to understanding and implementing new skills and building upon successes.
