Alejandro is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) who earned his Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Johns Hopkins University. More importantly, he brings a warm, grounded, and genuinely human presence into the therapy room. Clients often describe him as approachable, easy to talk to, and deeply attentive. Alejandro believes that meaningful change occurs in a space where you feel both safe and understood while also being gently challenged. He meets you where you are, without judgment, and helps you explore patterns, emotions, and experiences with curiosity and compassion. Whether you are navigating stress, experiencing life transitions, or facing deeper emotional struggles, Alejandro is committed to walking alongside you at your pace. He aims to support you in building clarity, confidence, and a stronger connection with yourself.
Your first session is a chance to slow down and feel heard without judgment or pressure. Whether in English or Spanish, Alejandro creates a warm, collaborative space where you can begin sharing what’s been on your mind, at your own pace. You don’t need to prepare anything or have the “right words” just show up as you are. During this session, we’ll explore what’s bringing you in, what’s feeling most important right now, and what you’d like to change or better understand. Alejandro will ask thoughtful questions to get a full picture of your experiences and help you start connecting the dots. Together, you’ll begin identifying meaningful goals and next steps. Many clients leave the first session feeling more grounded, understood, and hopeful about what’s possible. To schedule a complimentary 15-minute consultation, please reach out.
Alejandro takes an integrative and collaborative approach to therapy, tailoring each session to your unique needs rather than using a one-size-fits-all method. His work is grounded in evidence-based practices such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Person-Centered Therapy, Mindfulness, and Existential Therapy. These approaches work together to help you better understand your thoughts and emotions, develop practical coping strategies, and create meaningful, lasting change. In therapy with Alejandro, the focus isn’t solely on tools; it’s about understanding you. He aims to help you increase self-awareness, break unhelpful patterns, and reconnect with your values and sense of purpose. You can expect a balance of support and gentle guidance, providing a space where you feel heard while also gaining insight and direction in your life.
I believe each client is the expert on their own life, and my role is to provide a supportive, nonjudgmental space where they feel heard, understood, seen, and empowered. By integrating evidence-based approaches with compassion and curiosity, I help clients gain insight, develop practical tools, and create meaningful change that aligns with their values, goals, and vision for their lives.
Other specialties
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
CBT helps clients understand how their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors influence one another. I use this approach to help clients identify unhelpful thinking patterns, develop healthier perspectives, and learn practical coping skills to manage challenges such as anxiety, depression, stress, and life transitions
Dialectical Behavior (DBT)
DBT helps clients build skills in emotional regulation, distress tolerance, mindfulness, and healthy communication. I use this approach to support clients who experience intense emotions, relationship difficulties, impulsive behaviors, or challenges managing stress.
Mindfulness-Based Therapy
Mindfulness-based therapy helps clients become more aware of their thoughts, emotions, and physical sensations without judgment. I incorporate mindfulness practices to help clients reduce stress, improve emotional balance, increase self-awareness, and feel more present in their daily lives.
Sandplay
Sandplay therapy provides a creative and experiential way for clients to express thoughts, emotions, and experiences that may be difficult to put into words. Using miniature figures and sand scenes, clients can explore personal challenges, gain insight, and process emotions in a safe and meaningful way.
Existential
Existential therapy helps clients explore questions related to meaning, purpose, identity, freedom, and personal responsibility. I use this approach to support clients who are navigating life transitions, relationship challenges, grief, or a desire for deeper self-understanding and fulfillment.
