New to Grow
I'm a licensed clinical social worker with over nine years of experience. I aim to provide compassionate and client-centered care to adolescents and adults. I use evidence-based interventions to support clients in meeting their goals as they navigate life changes and manage emerging symptoms. I have experience supporting clients through life transitions, anxiety, OCD, depression, and relationship stressors. During our sessions, I aim to create a warm and inviting space that helps clients feel comfortable exploring tough topics as we work toward creating a more compassionate relationship with themselves.
In our first session, we'll work on building rapport to help you feel comfortable as we go through your history and identify how symptoms have been affecting you. We'll explore you, your relationships, and the impact of these symptoms on your life, health, or job. From here, we'll identify short-term and long-term goals to guide our work together. Often, these goals are as simple as wanting to enjoy the little things again and committing to exploring patterns that make this difficult.
In our sessions, I focus first on holding space and listening as you share and explore challenges or goals before we then work on challenging patterns you or I noticed as you shared. Sometimes, this is where I point out negative self-talk I noticed as you described a situation or where I point out the way your strengths and values came into play in a situation. Things are rarely black and white, and sometimes clients find it helpful to recognize that we did the best we could in the situation while also recognizing that we would like that best to be a little different the next time around. I believe that progress comes from the recognition that only so much is within our control and our desire to focus on those pieces.
I am best suited to work with clients struggling with change, self-criticism, or feelings of overwhelm. I offer support to clients who are struggling to enjoy life due to recent transitions, lifelong worry, or persistent fears that keep them stuck. My sessions utilize compassion and humor to help uproot unhelpful patterns that keep us repeating the same day over and over.
I use this method to explore how our thoughts, feelings, and actions are all connected, as well as explore beliefs about ourselves and the world and hos this impacts how we move about in it.
I use person-centered to build a safe and respectful space with active listening, genuine empathy, and accepting the other person without judgment.
I use ERP to help clients with OCD and anxiety identify and map out fears, explore step-by-step ways to challenge them, and practice skills to reduce the amount of time someone engages in a compulsion or safety-behavior.
