My name is Davion Pooran, and I am a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC) dedicated to helping individuals improve their mental health, achieve emotional stability, and experience a greater sense of well-being. My decision to pursue a career in psychiatric mental health care grew from a deep appreciation for the importance of emotional wellness and the impact mental health has on every aspect of our lives. I believe everyone deserves to feel heard, understood, and supported, particularly during challenging times. My approach to care is grounded in compassion, respect, collaboration, and evidence-based treatment tailored to each individual's unique needs.

I believe in providing a safe, supportive environment where patients feel heard and empowered.

At Ascension Psychiatry, I provide comprehensive psychiatric evaluations, medication management, and supportive therapy to help individuals navigate challenges such as anxiety, depression, mood disorders, trauma-related symptoms, and other mental health concerns. I recognize that every person has a unique story, and I strive to create a safe, nonjudgmental environment where clients feel comfortable discussing their concerns, exploring their experiences, and participating actively in their treatment. I believe effective mental health care involves more than managing symptoms. It includes understanding the individual as a whole, identifying personal strengths, developing healthy coping strategies, and building the confidence needed to move forward. By combining clinical expertise with a compassionate, individualized approach, I work collaboratively with clients to develop personalized treatment plans that support emotional balance, resilience, self-awareness, and meaningful personal growth. My goal is to help each client feel empowered throughout their mental health journey and supported in making informed decisions about their care. At Ascension Psychiatry, we are committed to helping you move toward greater stability, renewed hope, and an improved quality of life. Taking the first step toward better mental health is an investment in yourself, and I look forward to supporting you along the way.

First session

The first session is mostly a conversation to help me understand what brings you in, what symptoms or challenges you’ve been experiencing, and what goals you’d like to work toward. We’ll talk about your mental health history, medical background, and current supports or stressors.

Strengths

At Ascension Psychiatry, I believe exceptional mental health care begins with understanding the person behind the symptoms. My approach combines clinical expertise, evidence-based treatment, and genuine compassion to create a supportive experience where every individual feels heard, respected, and valued. What sets my approach apart is my commitment to personalized care. I recognize that no two individuals share the same experiences, challenges, or goals. Rather than taking a one-size-fits-all approach, I work collaboratively with each client to understand their concerns, identify their strengths, and develop a treatment plan that aligns with their unique needs and circumstances. I believe mental health treatment should be a partnership built on trust, open communication, and shared decision-making. Whether providing comprehensive psychiatric evaluations, medication management, or supportive therapy, my goal is to help clients better understand their symptoms, develop effective coping strategies, and make informed decisions about their care. I also recognize that meaningful progress extends beyond symptom reduction. Emotional stability, self-awareness, resilience, and improved daily functioning are important parts of lasting wellness. I strive to create a safe, nonjudgmental environment where clients can openly discuss their concerns and feel empowered throughout their treatment journey. At Ascension Psychiatry, you are more than a diagnosis. You are an individual with unique strengths, experiences, and possibilities. My commitment is to provide thoughtful, compassionate care that supports your growth and helps you move toward a healthier, more balanced life.

Ideal clients

My ideal client is an individual who recognizes the importance of mental health and is ready to take meaningful steps toward emotional wellness. They may be experiencing anxiety, depression, mood changes, trauma-related symptoms, difficulty managing stress, or challenges that interfere with relationships, work, sleep, or daily functioning. They may feel overwhelmed, emotionally exhausted, or frustrated by symptoms that make it difficult to feel like themselves. My ideal clients are open to exploring their experiences, gaining a better understanding of their mental health, and working collaboratively to find effective solutions. They may be seeking psychiatric evaluation, medication management, supportive therapy, or a more individualized approach to treatment. I welcome individuals who value compassionate, nonjudgmental care and want to feel heard, understood, and involved in their treatment decisions. They do not need to have everything figured out or know exactly what they need before reaching out. An openness to learning, asking questions, and exploring healthier coping strategies is a meaningful starting point. Ultimately, my ideal client wants more than temporary symptom relief. They want to regain emotional balance, improve confidence, strengthen resilience, develop healthier coping skills, and experience a better quality of life. At Ascension Psychiatry, I strive to partner with individuals at every stage of their mental health journey, providing personalized, evidence-based care that supports greater stability, self-awareness, and lasting personal growth.
