Hello, to introduce myself, I am a licensed mental health counselor in the state of Florida. I became involved in counseling because my husband was a Vietnam veteran who suffered from chronic PTSD and unfortunately Agent Orange. Initially, I wanted to only work with veterans' administration but there were other opportunities in life for me. I have worked in the prison system here in Florida, I have also worked at a community counseling center and I have also had the pleasure to work with children, most of whom were in the DCF program. Children are incredibly resilient. I have worked with clients who have suffered from depression, anxiety, anger management, abandonment issues, ADHD, and trauma. Counseling for me is a way to help people reconnect to who they are, and encourage faith, compassion, sensitivity and respect for who they are. I work to develop an empathetic working relationship based on trust. It takes courage to reach out and ask for help and change is hard but incredibly rewarding. Reach out and take the first step.
In our first session we will spend time getting to know each other and focus in on specific issues you identify that you struggle with. From there we will discuss treatment goals, that will leaving you acknowledging that you feel comfortable in your own skin. We will discuss communication styles and various boundaries
In the field of counseling, I have worked, successfully, with clients who worry about things they have no control over, yes anxiety which often leads to depression. Anxiety is a very uncomfortable way to live since there is no cure, reducing the stress in your muscle groups (progressive relaxation) can be a game changer for most people. I have worked with clients who have suffered from depression, anxiety, anger management, abandonment issues, ADHD, bullying, trauma, and prejudice. I work to develop an empathetic working relationship based on trust. It takes courage to reach out and ask for help and change is hard, but incredibly rewarding. Reach out and take the first step. I look forward to hearing from you!
I currently work with individuals that suffer with anxiety, when someone asks you, 'Do you worry about things you have no control over" and you answer "yes" learning ways to control your anxiety is imperative. There is no cure for anxiety, if you do not control it, it will control you. And what an uncomfortable way to live! Adults, teenagers, children, LBGT
I have been using Solution Focused therapy in my practice since I began practicing. I have also utilized my certifications in Mariage and Family Therapy and Play Therapy depending on the client. I have found Solutionn focusced therapy helps clients identify patterns of behavior that may cause issues for them relationships, events that result in depressed moods and anxiety. Once identified we work to lokkfor root causes and coping skills to reduce the hold on the client.
As adults many of us have not experienced issues we have never been introduced to. I have used psychoeducation as a way of explaining how therapy can help certain mental health diagnosis, the importance of self-care, and provide clients to to develop a better understanding of mental health.
