About me

No matter how significant life’s challenges may be, change and growth are always possible. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor with more than 20 years of experience as a multicultural counselor and psychiatric social worker in Oregon and South Korea. Throughout my career, I have supported individuals as they navigate emotional difficulties, relationship challenges, life transitions, and personal struggles while helping them build resilience and move toward becoming the best version of themselves. My counseling approach is grounded in authenticity, compassion, and collaboration. I believe counseling is a partnership in which clients and counselors work together in a safe, respectful, and supportive environment. Rather than focusing only on current symptoms, I help clients explore where their challenges may have begun, understand what may be maintaining them, and develop healthier ways of thinking, feeling, and responding. Because every person is unique, I tailor therapy to each client’s individual needs, personality, culture, values, and goals. I integrate a variety of evidence-based and holistic approaches, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Motivational Interviewing, Positive Psychology, Neuroscience-informed practices, Play Therapy, Art Therapy, Christian Counseling, and culturally sensitive approaches. My goal is not simply to help clients cope with difficulties, but to help them gain greater self-understanding, develop practical tools, strengthen their relationships, and create meaningful and lasting change.

Get to know me

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

The first session is an opportunity to get to know each other and begin building a trusting therapeutic relationship. I want my client to feel comfortable, heard, respected, and understood.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

1. I look beyond the problems. I don't focus only on “What is wrong?” I want to understand where the problem began and how the person's experiences have shaped them. 2. You personalize therapy. I don't believe one counseling method works for everyone. I integrate CBT, Motivational Interviewing, Positive Psychology, Art Therapy, Play Therapy, Christian Counseling, neuroscience-informed practices, and culturally sensitive approaches depending on the client's needs. 3. I bring multicultural experience. 4. I emphasize the therapeutic relationship. My approach is not simply “I am the expert and you are the patient.” I see counseling as a partnership built on trust, respect, authenticity, and shared effort. 5. I focus on growth, not just symptom reduction. Your goal is to help people understand themselves, develop resilience, recognize their strengths, and move toward a more meaningful and fulfilling life.

The clients I'm best positioned to serve

As a Licensed Professional Counselor, I welcome and support clients from diverse backgrounds and strive to create an inclusive and respectful therapeutic environment for everyone. At the same time, I have found that my counseling approach is particularly effective when working with women and children. Depression, parenting challenges, children’s challenging behaviors, generalized anxiety, etc. I feel more connected when helping clients in these areas.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is based on the idea that our thoughts, feelings, and behaviors are connected. When something happens, it is not always the situation itself that determines how we feel. The way we interpret the situation can also affect our emotions and how we respond. In CBT, we learn to notice these automatic thoughts and examine whether they are accurate and helpful. Then we practice developing more balanced ways of thinking and responding. CBT is not about forcing yourself to think positively or pretending that problems don't exist. Instead, it is about learning to look at situations from different perspectives and choosing responses that are more helpful.
