Get to know me

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

The first session is a welcoming, judgment-free space where we begin getting to know each other and set the foundation for our work together. My goal is to create a safe, collaborative environment where you feel heard, respected, and understood. During this session, I’ll ask about what brought you to therapy, your goals, and any current challenges you’re facing. We’ll also explore relevant background information—such as your personal history, relationships, coping strategies, and what has or hasn’t worked in the past. You’re welcome to share at your own pace; there’s no pressure to cover everything right away. I’ll also explain how therapy works, review confidentiality, and answer any questions you have about the process or my approach. Together, we’ll begin to clarify what you want to get out of therapy and how we can work toward those goals. Whether you’re feeling nervous, uncertain, or relieved to begin, that’s all completely normal. My focus in the first session—and throughout our work—is to meet you where you are and support you with empathy, clarity, and care.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

As a therapist, my greatest strengths lie in my ability to build a strong, trusting relationship with clients while offering clear, focused, and evidence-based support. Clients often tell me they feel genuinely heard, accepted, and empowered in our work together. I bring: 18 years of experience across a range of clinical areas—including couples therapy, sex therapy, CBT, and solution-focused brief treatment A compassionate and nonjudgmental presence that helps clients feel safe exploring even the most vulnerable topics A direct but respectful communication style that helps clients gain insight, stay focused on goals, and make meaningful progress A strengths-based, culturally responsive approach that honors each client’s values, identity, and lived experience Deep experience supporting diverse individuals and couples, including LGBTQ+ clients, those navigating trauma, and people in non-traditional relationships Whether working short-term or long-term, I am committed to helping clients uncover their inner resilience, develop practical tools for change, and move toward more connected, authentic, and fulfilling lives.

The clients I'm best positioned to serve

I am best positioned to work with individuals and couples who are ready to engage in meaningful, solution-focused change—whether they’re navigating relationship challenges, life transitions, emotional distress, or identity exploration. Many of my clients come seeking clarity, emotional balance, and healthier patterns in their personal lives and relationships. I work especially well with: Couples experiencing communication breakdown, conflict, intimacy issues, or infidelity Adults facing anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, or decision-making challenges Clients seeking sex therapy, including those navigating desire differences, sexual dysfunction, shame, or trauma Professionals feeling overwhelmed, burnt out, or stuck in unfulfilling patterns Clients from diverse cultural, racial, and LGBTQ+ backgrounds who value a safe, affirming, and culturally responsive therapeutic space My approach is collaborative, direct yet compassionate, and grounded in evidence-based modalities such as CBT, Solution-Focused Brief Therapy, and Emotionally Focused Therapy. I support clients in discovering their strengths, increasing self-awareness, and moving toward more authentic, empowered ways of living and relating.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

I’ve been using Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to support clients in identifying and transforming unhelpful thought patterns, emotional responses, and behaviors. My experience spans work with individuals struggling with anxiety, depression, trauma, stress, self-esteem issues, and a range of mood and behavioral disorders. CBT’s structured, goal-oriented approach allows me to work collaboratively with clients to increase self-awareness, develop practical coping strategies, and build long-term emotional resilience. I help clients recognize the connections between their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors—and guide them in challenging and replacing distorted thinking with more balanced, adaptive perspectives. In my practice, I blend the core principles of CBT with a warm, empathetic style that empowers clients to make meaningful, sustainable changes. Whether working short-term or long-term, I focus on helping clients gain clarity, reduce distress, and regain a sense of control in their lives.

Couples Counseling

With 18 years of dedicated experience in couples therapy, I’ve helped partners navigate a wide range of relational challenges— from communication breakdowns and trust issues to infidelity, life transitions, parenting conflicts, and emotional disconnection. My work focuses on fostering deeper understanding, emotional safety, and meaningful connection between partners.

Solution Focused Brief Treatment

I have specialized in using Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT) to help individuals, couples, and families tap into their existing strengths and create meaningful change. SFBT aligns with my core belief that clients are the experts in their own lives, and that lasting change can begin by identifying and amplifying what’s already working. My work emphasizes clear goal-setting, practical steps forward, and building on clients’ successes—no matter how small. I use targeted, forward-thinking questions to help clients shift their perspective, gain clarity, and unlock solutions that fit their values and realities. Whether I’m working with clients facing life transitions, relational difficulties, anxiety, or workplace stress, I consistently see the power of a brief, strengths-based approach to spark resilience, confidence, and positive momentum. My years of experience have taught me that even in the face of deep challenges, clients often already possess the resources they need—and my role is to help them recognize and mobilize those resources.

Sex Therapy

I have worked with individuals and couples to address a wide range of sexual concerns with compassion, respect, and clinical expertise. My work focuses on helping clients explore and improve their sexual health, intimacy, and connection—always in a judgment-free, inclusive, and affirming environment. I’ve supported clients dealing with issues such as low desire, mismatched libidos, sexual pain or dysfunction, out-of-control sexual behavior, performance anxiety, infidelity, communication difficulties around sex, and the impact of trauma on intimacy. I am experienced in working with diverse sexual orientations, gender identities, relationship structures (including consensual non-monogamy), and cultural backgrounds. My approach integrates sex-positive, evidence-based methods, drawing from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), mindfulness, and relational techniques, depending on the client’s needs. I strive to reduce shame, open up honest communication, and empower clients to better understand their own sexuality and relational dynamics.
