My name is Dr. Britta Caudill, Born and raised in eastern Kentucky, I am a doctorate-level licensed clinical social worker committed to helping people address their mental and behavioral health struggles. I hold a doctorate in clinical social work from the University of Kentucky with an emphasis on trauma response, and I am on track to be a certified first responder counselor within the next couple of months. I will be one of eight CFRCs in Kentucky and the only doctorate-level provider. I have over fourteen years of experience in a social work mental health setting. Over the years I have held many positions as I climbed the ladder progressing through my educational career. During that time, I acquired a variety of knowledge in mental and behavioral health therapy working with families, couples, groups, and individuals. I have worked with general mental health, supported community living, assisted living, foster care, first responder, and substance abuse populations. My broad range of experience has heightened my knowledge of depression, anxiety, PTSD, ADHD, and self-harming behaviors, among many others. I have focused the past twelve years on fostering a better understanding of trauma, especially within the first responder community. Over the past seven years, I discovered an inadvertent passion for working in addiction and recovery. I enjoy using my knowledge and passion to help people gain a new perspective on life and happiness.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

Mental and behavioral health therapy varies with each person. Each client requires a specific treatment plan with objectives and goals tailored to fit their needs. After the first session, we will focus on building rapport while developing a treatment plan together. Throughout treatment, we will utilize strengths and perspectives encouraging the ability to utilize new skills to meet personalized treatment goals.

What treatment methods and tools do you utilize?

My treatment style focuses on perspective. I utilize a client-centered approach, meeting each client where they are in terms of life and knowledge. I strive to build on strengths to meet personal individualized treatment goals. I utilize a strengths-based perspective to encourage cognitive and behavioral change. Giving clients the ability to identify and utilize different perspectives allows them to see life through a variety of lenses, promoting growth in thought patterns.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

Let's face it, most people seek therapy due to something negative or difficult in their life. This can cause people to dread and even avoid participating. I do not want my clients to dread our sessions. I attempt to build a strong rapport and to make my sessions casual, relatable, educational, and enjoyable. I am passionate about my work, and I believe everyone deserves a chance to better themselves. Battling mental and behavioral health issues is hard enough without the stigma and stereotypes that are often attached. I enjoy providing telehealth counseling options because it allows clients to utilize their comfort zone, without limiting their familial and occupational responsibilities. No one should have to fear seeking help, and treatment should never hinder recovery.
