LCSW, 5 years of experience
New to Grow
I am a licensed clinical social worker and have been in the field for five years. I believe that therapy should be accessible and available to everyone. I approach therapy from a strengths based perspective, believing that everyone is capable of change, self reflection, and growth. As a woman of color myself, my work centers on empowering people of color and women to feel comfortable in their own skin and to take up space unapologetically.
The therapeutic relationship is a partnership. As such, our first session together is a getting to know me session. You can expect to hear about my approach, to tell me more about yourself and what brings you to therapy, and to ask questions of me. While first impressions are not always the best impression, this first session is a good way to test the waters and to see if we'll be a good fit together. I strongly believe that clients have the right to a therapist who affirms and challenges them while meeting their needs.
I approach therapy from a strengths based perspective, believing that everyone is capable of change, self reflection, and growth. I strive to be affirming while also challenging mindsets as this is where change happens. I fully acknowledge that therapy is difficult work and there may be times where we may experience ruptures in our therapeutic relationship but I always strive to make repairs.
My ideal client is someone who recognizes that addressing past experiences, especially traumas, is difficult work, but is ready and willing to do just that. If you believe in resilience and the strength of the human spirit, I think that we'll be able to do great work together. The journey may not always be pretty, and we may have moments where we disagree, but as long as you're also approaching this partnership with an open mind, change will happen!
I firmly believe that regardless of our circumstances, people are resilient and capable of change. I approach therapy from a strengths-based perspective, choosing to foster the mentality that everyone has their own unique strengths that they bring to the table, and it is this mentality that allows for the learning and implementing of coping mechanisms which leads to lasting change.
