I understand that your problems are unique to you and my application of knowledge and experience results in care that is specifically tailored to your needs and concerns.
In your first session with me, we will talk about the concerns and problems that have led you to seek care. I will ask you about current stressors and various symptoms. I will want to know a little about your background and your current situation. Typically, at the end of the appointment, I'll have an understanding of what is going on with you and ideas about the ways we can begin to solve the problems you have.

This experience has led to an approach where I strive to first and foremost help you understand the nature of your difficulties and to take the mystery out of the problems you are having. Next, once we both understand what is going on, I work hard to develop a treatment strategy that is relatable and understandable to you. Together we then work to making improvements in your life.

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy is a therapeutic tool I employ to first help you to quickly understand how thought patterns, various behaviors and your feelings and mood relate to one another. Once you understand these relationships, I use CBT to help you modify thoughts and change behaviors, which leads to emotional changes and improvement in distressing symptoms.
