New to Grow
I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor. Let's face it: starting therapy can feel a bit intimidating, especially if you're skeptical it will even work or if you're carrying a lot of pain right now. I get that, which is why my first priority is simply building real trust with you—and yes, I bring plenty of humor, empathy, and insight into the room to keep things grounded. I specialize in working with teens, adults, couples, and families who are tired of being stuck in the same painful cycles. My approach skips the clinical textbook jargon to focus on practical, personalized strategies that actually make sense for your life, helping you find relief and create real change as quickly as possible.
In your first session, you can expect a conversation with a normal guy who genuinely wants to connect with you, not a rigid clinical robot. Our main goal is simply to find where you are right now, hear your story, and understand what has been going on in your world. There is no pressure to have everything figured out or to say the right things; it is a safe, relaxed space for us to build trust and map out a practical path forward at your pace.
Most people expect therapy to feel clinical, rigid, or entirely overwhelming. In our sessions, I lean on a few specific strengths to help you heal and grow: Holding Space: I am comfortable sitting quietly with you in your heaviest, most painful moments without rushing to fix them. Active Listening: I tune in deeply to your story, ensuring you feel completely heard, validated, and understood. Humor When Needed: Therapy can be heavy, but I use timely humor to break the tension, keep things grounded, and bring a sense of lightness when it helps. Fair but Direct: When you are ready, I will gently challenge you. I am direct about pointing out blind spots, but I always do it with fairness and respect.
My ideal clients are individuals, partners, or families feeling stuck in repetitive conflicts, overwhelmed by transitions, or disconnected from loved ones. Whether you are a teenager navigating modern stressors, an adult healing from difficult life experiences, or a couple fighting to restore intimacy, I am best positioned to serve those ready to actively engage in therapy, break unhelpful patterns, and build healthier relationships. Our Therapy Goals Together, we will establish actionable paths toward healing and long-term growth. Our primary goals include: Enhancing Communication: Learning to express core needs clearly and resolve conflicts constructively. Building Resilience: Developing practical, daily coping mechanisms to navigate stress and trauma. Fostering Connection: Restoring trust, setting healthy boundaries, and strengthening generational bonds. Creating Alignment: Empowering you to make conscious, value-driven decisions for a fulfilling life. Ultimately, my goal is to walk alongside you as you navigate life's challenges, equipping you with the tools and confidence needed to thrive. If you are ready to take the next step toward a healthier, more connected future, I look forward to collaborating with you.

My approach integrates the principles of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) to provide a compassionate space for healing. I will help you lean into accepting what is out of your control, release unhelpful thinking patterns, and courageously commit to meaningful personal growth.
I utilize Schema Therapy to help you identify and heal deeply ingrained, lifelong emotional patterns that cause you to feel stuck. Together, we will uncover the root causes of these self-defeating behaviors, meet your unmet core needs, and build healthier ways of relating to yourself and others.
When requested by the client, I utilize Christian counseling to provide a therapeutic space where psychological principles are safely integrated with biblical truth. Together, we will explore your challenges through the lens of scripture and prayer, helping you align your mental health with your spiritual walk. I also offer 30+ years of pastoral counseling and mentoring.
I like to use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to provide a structured, goal-oriented environment where you can actively tackle anxiety, depression, or stress. Through this evidence-based model, you will learn to break down overwhelming problems into manageable parts and build lasting emotional resilience.
I enjoy working with married couples and have years of experience as well as personally being married for over 40 years. I use evidence-based couples counseling to help partnerships navigate major life transitions, manage conflict, and strengthen their foundation. Through structured guidance, you both will develop practical tools to establish healthy boundaries, improve teamwork, and thrive together. I utilize Emotion Focused Therapy (EFT), The Gottman Model as well and Prepare Enrich.
