Hello! I have worked in the counseling field for over 10 years working with families, children, and adolescents on a variety of topics. Topics include communication, anger, trauma, grief, anxiety, and depression. I have a passion with helping people finding ways go to from surviving in their lives to thriving. I view counseling as a way for the client to get an outside perspective on any issues in their life in a setting where there is no judgement.

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

The first session is the get to know each other session. This session is when I like to find out about you and what your goals are for counseling. I know the first session can be daunting, so I try to make it as comfortable as possible for you.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

My overall approach to counseling is what I call fairly easy going. I want to make it as comfortable as possible for you, as I know it can be difficult to open up to someone initially. My therapeutic approach consists of Brief Solution Focused Therapy where the goal is to find the biggest presenting issues and find possible solutions that work best for you. I also often use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, sometimes with Solution Focused Therapy, where we look at possible thinking patterns and behaviors that may be the underlying cause of issues in your life. I've found these techniques helpful with a variety of issues clients have had including anxiety, anger, and depression.

The clients I'm best positioned to serve

My ideal client is someone who is willing to have a deeper look at themselves and the issues they are facing in their lives. I do not expect a client to be willing to be completely open from the first session, but only willing to begin the process of finding different ways to solve problems that arise. If you are willing to do the work, I am willing to help you through it.

My treatment methods

Solution Focused Brief Treatment

I use solution focused brief treatment to help clients identify their biggest issues/problems they see in their life and help them find ways to begin to solve the issues. Treatment typically last 5-7 sessions.

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

I work with the client to identify any problematic thinking patterns and ways to help correct thinking patterns. Sometimes CBT can be used with Solution Focused Therapy.
