I am a licensed psychologist who enjoys working with clients who may be struggling with depression or challenging life transitions that have them feeling stuck. I have firsthand experience with depression and difficult life circumstances, and I strive to meet clients where they are to begin working toward a healthy, value-based life. I work to help clients identify their strengths and to build on them to overcome the mental health challenges they are facing. I also work with many men, especially Latino men, who are having social or relationship problems but feel a certain stigma around seeking help. I understand this challenge and am here to help with that - judgment free.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

In our first session together, we will get to know one another and discuss the mental health or life challenges you are facing. During this time, we will discuss my approach to therapy, what to expect, and answer any questions that you might have. We will also work together to identify important goals you want to achieve. This will help me create a tailored plan for us to work through in follow-up sessions.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

I believe that my greatest strength as a psychologist is my ability to connect with people on a personal level. I consider authenticity and being genuine as core values that I hold, and I strive to exercise them with clients. I meet clients where they are and work to build a trusting relationship with them. Also, I have both personal and professional experience with depression and related life challenges. As a psychologist and mental health researcher, I have a strong clinical and research understanding of mental health challenges and use this information to develop an individualized treatment plan with clients. I am nonjudgmental and understand that life can sometimes bring us to difficult places. I am here to help you work through them.

Describe the client(s) you are best positioned to serve.

I enjoy working with clients who are struggling with mental health challenges such as depression (or depressive symptoms), as well as related life challenges. I enjoy assisting clients to work through challenging life transitions that have placed significant stress on them and their families. In fact, one of the most rewarding aspects of my work is to see clients improve their life situations and move toward a fulfilling, value-based life. I also work with many men who are experiencing social or romantic relationship challenges. Although I work with both men and women regularly, I have noticed that many men may be more reluctant to reach out for help. I am here to work with these individuals in a nonjudgmental way to identify and reach their life goals. As a mental health researcher, I also have considerable cultural expertise working with diverse Latino families.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

I am a licensed psychologist who works with people struggling with depression or other difficult life situations. As someone who has both personal and professional experience with depression, I understand firsthand how it feels to be stuck in life. People with depression and other disorders like anxiety often have hopeless views of themselves, of those around them, and of their futures. I understand these struggles and strive to meet clients where they are unconditionally. My objective is to provide a space where clients and I can work together toward reaching important life goals. I use cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) to teach clients important problem-solving skills that they can use to reduce and manage their symptoms while preventing future relapse. CBT is a frontline treatment for depression and many other psychological challenges.
