I love people. Having witnessed traumas from my own life, I know what it feels like to have hurt as well as healing. I have always loved teens & adults and strive to love them right where they are. I've worked closely with people since college (over 15 years ago) through private practices, group practice, churches, rehab. centers, camps, & conferences. I have training/skills to comfortably work with teens, allowing me to get to know them in a very authentic way. I have extensive experience working using CBT & EMDR methods & I have expertise in anxiety, relationship issues, & traumatic experiences that you need to work through! Prior to becoming a therapist, I worked in youth ministry at a 17,000-member church in Newport Beach, CA and fell in love working with people and I wanted to contribute to people's lives in an even deeper way, not only through a ministry context but through professional counseling in a 1/1 setting. It has been deeply enriching ever since!

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

In your first session, we'll explore what brought you to therapy & look at your goals. We will set up a time that works for your schedule. I offer in person and telehealth therapy on Mon/Wed and telehealth via video on Tuesdays. I offer therapy that is solution-oriented & interact with people with authenticity & warmth. I use approaches that benefit you depending on your specific goals, including CBT, attachment-based therapy, inner child work, EMDR, or a mix of these!

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

Hi! I'm Brittany. I work with adults & teens. In your first session, we'll explore what brought you to therapy & look at your goals. I help people with authenticity & warmth. I use approaches that benefit you depending on your specific goals, including CBT, attachment-based therapy, inner child work, EMDR, or a mix of these! CBT uses a variety of techniques, including cognitive restructuring. Cognitive restructuring involves identifying and challenging unhelpful beliefs and thoughts that no longer serve you.

Acceptance and commitment (ACT)

Acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT) is a type of psychotherapy that emphasizes acceptance to deal with negative thoughts, feelings, symptoms, or circumstances. ACT therapy encourages increased commitment to healthy, constructive activities that uphold your values or goals.

Attachment-based

I hold a Narrative Focused Trauma Care Level I Certificate; The Allender Center at The Seattle School under Dan Allender, PhD.

Person-centered (Rogerian)

Let's break the shame cycle together! We believe it is important to help everyone feel emotions in a safe place. We desire to help each each person attain assurance in who they are and deeply believe in each person's value.

EMDR

I have training in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing Therapy under Emdria Inter. Ass., working under Michelle Gottlieb, LPCC, LMFT & Curtis Rouanzoin, Ph.D.
