New to Grow
Hello! I'm Audra, and I appreciate you considering working with me. I have almost a decade of professional work experience and over 22 years of raising and homeschooling my family. I obtained my MSW from the University of Denver and am licensed as a clinical social worker in both Colorado and Texas. I spent several years working in the field of sexual abuse, supporting victims and their families. I've also worked in Community Mental Health, providing therapy to individuals and groups managing stress, anxiety, depression, sexual abuse, relationship issues, parenting concerns, trauma, and problems with life changes/stressors. I feel God has given me a gift for connecting with the clients and families I work with. Through this connection, I help you determine the path you want to take. My role as your therapist is to work with you to develop the skills necessary to achieve the treatment goals you have set.
Your first therapy session is an opportunity for us to get to know each other and begin building a trusting relationship. I’ll start by learning more about you, what brought you to therapy, and what you hope to gain from our work together. You are welcome to share as much or as little as you feel comfortable sharing at this stage. It will also be a time that you can asking any questions you might have for me so that you feel comfortable. During this session, we will talk about your current concerns, life experiences, and any challenges you are facing such as stress, anxiety, depression, relationship issues, parenting concerns, trauma, or major life changes. I will ask some questions to better understand your history and the context of what you’re going through. My hope is that by the end of the session you will feel more at ease and hold hope for the work we will do together.
What stands out about my therapeutic approach is the combination of connection, compassion, and a focus on the whole person—mind, body, and spirit. I create a safe, supportive space where clients feel heard, respected, and empowered, and I bring a sense of humor to make the process more comfortable. I draw on my faith, professional experience, and life experiences as a parent, wife and homeschooling mother to provide insight and guidance that is practical, empathetic, and meaningful. I use a range of evidence-based approaches—including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), mindfulness techniques, Solution Focused (SFBT) and trauma-informed care—tailored to each client’s needs. I'm completing an EMDR training program through the EMDR Institute of Dr. Francine Shapiro, founder of EMDR. These skills allow me to help individuals navigate life while developing skills for lasting growth and healing.
I work best with individuals who are open moving from surviving to thriving and are ready to make meaningful changes in their lives, even if they’re not exactly sure where to start. My ideal clients are those who may feel stuck, overwhelmed, or impacted by past experiences, and are looking for a supportive space to move forward. Many of the people I work with are dealing with anxiety, trauma, stress, or life transitions. They may have tried to cope on their own and are now seeking deeper healing and lasting relief. You don’t have to have everything figured out—just a willingness to show up and engage in the process. I especially value working with clients who are open to a variety of approaches like EMDR, CBT, Mindfulness and solution Focused. Together, we move at a pace that feels safe and manageable, building insight, resilience, and confidence along the way
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
I frequently use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) as an approach to help clients understand the connection between their thoughts, emotions, and behaviors. Overall, my goal when using CBT is to empower clients with practical tools they can continue using independently to manage challenges and maintain emotional Health.
Faith based therapy
I incorporate faith-based therapy into sessions for clients who identify spirituality or faith as an important part of their lives. I work with clients to integrate their beliefs and values into the therapeutic process in a way that supports their emotional and psychological healing. I believe clients can draw on both psychological tools and their faith to promote healing, resilience, and overall well-being.
Mindfulness-Based Therapy
I use mindfulness-based therapy to help clients develop a greater awareness of their thoughts, emotions, and physical responses. I use mindfulness techniques to help clients slow down, observe their internal experiences without judgment, and build healthier ways of responding to stress and difficult emotions.
Solution Focused Brief Treatment
I use Solution-Focused Therapy to help clients identify their strengths, resources, and existing abilities to create meaningful change while regaining a sense of control. My role is to guide clients in identifying practical, achievable steps that move them closer to their goals. By focusing on solutions, strengths, and small successes, clients often begin to see that positive change is possible and within their control.
EMDR
My approach to EMDR is collaborative, paced, and client-centered. I prioritize creating a safe and supportive environment where you feel grounded before beginning any trauma processing work. We will first build coping skills and resources to ensure you feel stable and in control throughout the process. During EMDR sessions, I guide you through structured phases that help your brain reprocess difficult memories so they become less overwhelming. You remain fully aware and in control the entire time, and we move at a pace that feels comfortable for you. I integrate EMDR with other therapeutic approaches to tailor treatment to your unique needs. My goal is not just symptom relief, but helping you develop long-term resilience, self-understanding, and emotional balance.
