New clients continue care with this provider

Hello! My name is Megan, and I am a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC) based in California specializing in trauma, addiction, and mood and anxiety disorders. I primarily support clients who struggle to manage their daily activities—whether it's personal hygiene, grocery shopping, work commitments, family responsibilities, or anything in between—due to the symptoms they experience. Together, we’ll work on reshaping your narratives about yourself, others, and the world around you. My goal is to empower you to re-engage with your life and create meaningful change. I believe in the transformative power of connection and being truly heard, and I’m here to support you in reaching your goals. Through our collaboration, I aim to help you embrace the strengths you already possess while enhancing your overall well-being.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

In our first session together, you can expect to go through some initial formalities, including discussing confidentiality limits, ensuring your physical safety, and possibly conducting an assessment. From there, we’ll talk about the challenges you’re facing and create a tailored plan for us to work on together. I will take the time to address any questions you may have about the therapy process or about me, ensuring you feel at ease. Together, we’ll explore your learning style and how I can adapt my approach to best meet your needs, providing you with clarity and peace of mind as we move forward.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

While I am trained and certified in various treatment approaches and areas of focus, research shows that the most important factor for effective therapy and lasting change is the relationship between a client and their therapist. This connection is key to building trust and encouraging growth throughout the healing journey. My greatest strengths as a provider are my memory and my personality. I have a knack for remembering details from our sessions, including our plans and the techniques that work for you, but, most importantly, I remember who you are as a person. This ties into my second strength—my personality. I prioritize ethical practices, safety, and professionalism while staying true to myself. My love for metaphors, light-hearted humor, and a curious mindset helps me connect genuinely with clients. As a child, I was the one who constantly asked "Why?"—not to annoy, but because I truly wanted to understand others. I will not only remember what you share but also celebrate your progress as we move forward together.

Describe the client(s) you are best positioned to serve.

I am deeply committed to working with clients who are ready to embrace change but may feel uncertain about where to begin. Many of my clients have bravely faced trauma, anxiety, mood disorders, or addiction. While they are eager to transform their lives, they often need the right tools to unlock their potential. They frequently confront challenges like low self-confidence, self-esteem, guilt, shame, and feelings of overwhelm. Together, we will empower you to move from feeling stuck to cultivating self-love, building confidence in your actions, and facing future challenges head-on—ultimately guiding you toward a more fulfilling and vibrant life.

My treatment methods

EMDR

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is an effective treatment to help with processing traumatic memories and reducing their emotional impact. Through guided eye movements and bilateral stimulation, we work together to reframe distressing experiences, fostering healing and resilience. This approach can empower you to move forward with greater clarity and a renewed sense of safety. EMDR can also be effectively applied to a range of mental health concerns, including OCD, depression, anxiety, suicidal thought and other mental health disorders or symptoms. Its versatile approach allows for comprehensive healing and emotional processing across different challenges.

Dialectical Behavior (DBT)

I use Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) to help clients develop essential skills across its four core components: Mindfulness, Interpersonal Effectiveness, Emotion Regulation, and Distress Tolerance. By fostering mindfulness, you learn to stay present and aware, which enhances your ability to navigate interpersonal relationships effectively. Additionally, DBT provides both tools and skills that can assist you in regulating emotions and building resilience, enabling you to manage distress and respond to any challenge with greater confidence and clarity.

Trauma-Focused CBT

As a Certified Trauma Professional (CPT), I prioritize trauma-informed interventions at the heart of my practice. Through Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), we navigate challenges in a way that ensures your emotional safety while empowering you and fostering a deeper confidence in yourself. Together, we create a supportive space for healing and growth.

Solution Focused Brief Treatment

In my practice, I effectively utilize Solution-Focused Brief Therapy by concentrating on your strengths and past successes, helping you envision your desired outcomes. I guide conversations toward practical solutions and actionable steps, empowering you to take charge of their own progress. This approach fosters a collaborative environment, allowing you to feel motivated and hopeful as you work toward your goals.

Strength-Based

I embrace Strengths-Based Therapy by helping you identify and harness your unique strengths and resources. By focusing on what you do well, I help guide you in leveraging these strengths to overcome challenges and achieve your goals. This positive approach not only fosters resilience but also enhances your confidence in your ability to create meaningful change in your life.
