Do you feel yourself pulled in many directions at the same time and unable to complete desired tasks? Do you feel overwhelmed, anxious, and/or experience depression? Do you find that you become angry quickly and frequently? If so, you have come to the right place. I am a LCSW with 20 years experience working with adults of all ages to overcome these obstacles in their lives. I employ a wholistic approach addressing the needs of your mind, body and spirit. I also integrate mindfulness, to help you develop a stronger relationship with yourself. You will begin to feel more confident in your ability to cope with everyday life which will help you reach the goals you have for your life..

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

In our first session together, we will start with brief introductions. This will help us begin to become better acquainted. Then we will talk about some specific challenges you are facing in order to develop a plan moving forward that works well with your needs.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

I feel like one of my biggest strengths is listening to your needs and working with you collaboratively to help you meet those needs. I am a strong believer in the concept that what you think you become. So we will work to identify automatic thoughts, learn to become aware of your feelings regarding those thoughts, and learn to change your thoughts to be more accurate to help you reach your unique goals.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

I attending specific CBT training when working at MHMR. In simple terms, CBT works to identify predominant thoughts that a client experiences in specific areas, goals they have set, etc. Work includes assessing those thoughts for validity, changing the thought if it is untrue, changing our behavior (DBT) to help change the effects of the thoughts and inspire new thoughts, and/or accepting that the situation you have the thought about is not in the client's control to change and release the thought altogether.

Faith based therapy

Not only is faith and important part of who I am, the desire to grow in my faith led me to study and earn a seminary degree. The result of these two factors helps me give counsel in the area of faith. Faith is very individual and unique to each individual. Work would begin by identifying the problem the client is experiencing. The client and therapist would then discuss the different faith-based options to address the problem, then advance to resolving the issue at hand, and/or giving some coping skills to help decrease the implications of that resolution.

Solution Focused Brief Treatment

A Client and I would assess where he/she is at the present time in regards to reaching a goal. Client would then relay the desired outcome regarding the goal. The work entails setting the steps that it will take to reach the goal. Other methods will figure into the steps as well. For example, your faith will decide what action steps you may take. Another example is determining if any behaviors need to change in order to meet the goal, etc.
