To start I am glad you are taking this first step and seeking support. I am a licensed independent clinical social worker currently working on an acute, inpatient psychiatric and detox unit. Prior to this I worked as a social worker in a primary care office and prior to to this a high school. I am experienced in working with clients of all ages and with various diagnoses and needs. I feel well-equipped to help support you with your goals moving forward. Let’s book a first session and see if we are the right fit!

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

I treat each first sessions as a “let’s get to know one another”. I will have a lot of questions for you so that I can start to understand your life, the people in it, and what is currently going on that you are looking for support with. I also want this first session to be a space where you can feel out if I am the right fit for you. I encourage clients to come to this session with questions so that I can help you make sure we are a good fit.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

A therapist being the right fit can be crucial to a successful therapeutic relationship. You are putting time and effort into therapy so this should be a useful and productive space for you. My strengths that helps support this successful therapeutic relationship include my compassion, listening skills, and honesty. I work to create a space where you feel safe, heard, and supported.

My treatment methods

Motivational Interviewing

Motivational interviewing is not only a useful tool to use in therapy but it is a collaborative approach to help us as a team reach your goals. It gives you the space to share your story and goals and gives me the time to listen, observe, and collaborate with you on ways we can make meaningful changes in your life.

Solution Focused Brief Treatment

In many cases we come to therapy to fix a problem. I have found that solution focused brief therapy is a useful treatment method for clients who have specific goals that they want to accomplish in a structured timeline. This allows us to work as a team to create a realistic path to accomplishing this.

Trauma Informed Care

Many of us carry trauma with us and this can be expressed in various ways, whether it’s through physical or mental health conditions. I work to be aware of this in my practice with every client so that we can explore this trauma together if necessary, recognize the ways it is effecting you now, and work to minimize any negative effects in your life.
