Hello! My name is Gladys! I'm a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and have been in practice for about 30 years. I love what I do and I'm excited to go on this journey with you. I truly strive for an open, honest and safe environment. We all get little down at times and sometimes for longer periods than we want. I'm here to help help you overcome any obstacles you may be struggling with at the moment. Remember, you do not have to suffer in silence! I hope you reach out and get the emotional support you need! I'm very much looking forward to meeting you and diving into what you bring the table.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

In our first session, I will focus on getting to know you; sharing personal history and your reason for seeking counseling. Naturally, I'm a casual person! I strive to create an environment that will hopefully allow you to feel comfortable to dive right in and address your presenting issue(s) to begin working on finding techniques and solutions to help you navigate what your are currently experiencing.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

Having worked with a multitude of people with different ethic backgrounds, I have genuine interest in others, and helping you get through social and emotional challenges. Expressing empathy is crucial in my sessions and to have personal reflection. I feel like I'm really great at meeting you where you are and going from there! The ability to listen effectively without judgment is the basis of my practice. Also, not everything is serious, a sense of humor is important when appropriate!

My treatment methods

Solution Focused Brief Treatment

Solution -Focused Therapy helps clients change by constructing solutions rather than focusing on problems. My goal is to help every client achieve positive emotions to elicit a future-orientated vehicle for formulating, motivating, achieving and sustaining desired behavioral change.

Child Parent Psychotherapy

When working with the child-parent dynamic, I LOVE using play therapy techniques to engage the child in each session. My primary goal is to collaborate with the parent(s) to strengthen the relationship between a child and his or her caregiver(s) to assist in restoring the child's cognitive, behavioral and social functioning. Working with parents and children have become one of my favorite treatment modalities!

Family Therapy

When working with families, my goal is to improve the communication, solving family problems, understanding and handling special family situations and creating a better functioning home environment. Remember, when seeking treatment for family therapy, all members have to be wiling to put time and effort in making positive changes! Nothing changes if nothing changes!

Couples Counseling

My focus in working with couples is to help people repair or rebuild relationships from a variety of reasons (i.e. infidelity, trust issues, pre-marital, blended families, etc.) and develop healthy and essential relationship skills. My experience and training with the Gottman method has been extremely beneficial in my practice with couples!
