Welcome! I am Bobbie Sue Janjua, a dedicated clinical therapist with extensive experience supporting individuals, couples, and families through life’s challenges. Currently, I serve as a Clinical Therapist III at Florida International University’s Herbert Wertheim School of Medicine in the NeighborhoodHELP program, where I focus on providing compassionate, evidence-based mental health care to underserved populations. I hold dual master’s degrees in Mental Health Counseling and Marriage and Family Therapy, built on a foundation of psychology and history from my undergraduate studies at Richmond, The American International University in London. My diverse educational background and multicultural experiences have shaped my approach to therapy, allowing me to understand and address the unique needs of each client with cultural sensitivity and systemic insight. My therapeutic approach is collaborative and tailored to the needs of my clients. I specialize in helping clients work through anxiety, depression, grief, relational conflicts, and family dynamics. Drawing from Bowen Family Systems Theory and other evidence-based methods, I empower individuals to identify patterns, build resilience, and foster healthier relationships. In addition to my clinical work, I am currently pursuing a PhD in Marriage and Family Therapy at Nova Southeastern University, where my research centers on burnout and resilience among mental health practitioners. This work reflects my commitment to advancing the field of mental health and supporting both clients and colleagues in achieving well-being. I am passionate about creating a safe, supportive environment where clients can explore their concerns, discover their strengths, and work toward lasting growth and change. If you’re ready to begin your journey toward improved mental health and stronger relationships, I would be honored to support you. Feel free to reach out for more information or to schedule an appointment. Let’s work together to create the life you envision.
In our first session, we will start with brief introductions and what brings you to counseling. I am interested in getting to know you better and for you to feel comfortable with me as your provider. Our first session is also an opportunity for you to ask me questions about my model of practice and experience working in the field.
As a therapist, I strive to bring a holistic and compassionate approach to every session. One of my greatest strengths is my ability to view individuals, couples, and families within the broader context of their relationships and systems. I believe that challenges rarely occur in isolation, and understanding the dynamics at play helps uncover root causes and create sustainable solutions. Having lived and worked in multicultural environments, I am deeply attuned to the ways culture shapes identity, relationships, and communication. I take pride in approaching every client with respect and cultural sensitivity, creating a space where they feel seen, valued, and understood. Empathy and compassion are at the heart of my work. I aim to create a safe, nonjudgmental space where clients can explore their thoughts and emotions freely. This connection is vital for building trust and fostering meaningful growth. I also recognize that every client’s journey is unique, and I’m committed to tailoring treatment to meet their specific needs. By integrating systemic family therapy, CBT, DBT, and supportive therapy, I can adapt to a wide range of challenges, from individual struggles with anxiety or emotional regulation to complex family dynamics. As someone who values continuous growth, I am dedicated to deepening my knowledge and skills. Pursuing my PhD in Marriage and Family Therapy is part of my commitment to providing evidence-based, effective care. This commitment ensures I’m always evolving and bringing the best possible support to my clients. I am particularly drawn to working with clients navigating complex dynamics, such as family conflict, multigenerational trauma, or caregiving stress. These situations require patience and a strategic approach, and I thrive on helping clients break down overwhelming issues into manageable, actionable steps. Above all, I focus on empowerment and resilience. I believe in helping clients discover their strengths, build the skills they need, and develop the confidence to face life’s challenges. Whether they’re caregivers experiencing burnout, parents raising children with special needs, or individuals managing anxiety and stress, I work to provide tools and support that foster long-term growth. Through my own experiences and professional practice, I’ve developed a deep understanding of the importance of self-care and balance. This insight guides my work with clients, particularly those feeling overwhelmed or burned out. I aim

IAt the heart of my practice is systemic family therapy, which emphasizes the interconnectedness of individuals within their family systems. Drawing from theories such as Bowen Family Systems, I help clients explore how family dynamics, communication patterns, and multigenerational influences shape their current challenges. By addressing these relational dynamics, I support families in building stronger connections, resolving conflicts, and creating healthier patterns of interaction. This approach is particularly effective in addressing issues such as parenting challenges, marital conflicts, and multigenerational tension.
For individuals dealing with anxiety, depression, or other mood-related issues, I often incorporate cognitive-behavioral therapy. CBT provides clients with tools to identify and challenge negative thought patterns, develop healthier coping strategies, and achieve meaningful behavioral change. By breaking down overwhelming problems into manageable steps, CBT empowers clients to take control of their mental health and create lasting change in their lives.
When clients struggle with emotional regulation, impulsivity, or interpersonal conflicts, I integrate dialectical behavior therapy into our sessions. DBT’s focus on mindfulness, distress tolerance, emotional regulation, and interpersonal effectiveness helps clients build the skills they need to navigate intense emotions and improve their relationships. This approach is particularly beneficial for those dealing with borderline personality traits, trauma, or chronic stress.
Sometimes, clients need a safe and nonjudgmental space to process their thoughts and emotions. Supportive therapy provides this environment, allowing clients to feel heard, validated, and understood. Through empathetic listening and encouragement, I help clients build self-esteem, resilience, and hope, particularly during times of significant stress or transition.
