Finding the right mental health provider can feel like a journey—much like searching for that perfect pair of jeans: high-quality, durable, a great fit, and something that makes you feel confident and empowered. I won’t claim to be the perfect fit for you just yet—that’s something we’ll discover together—but I can say that I’m here, ready to listen, and open to having a conversation when you are. As a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor (LCMHC) and National Certified Counselor (NCC), I have the experience and passion for helping individuals heal, learn, and grow. If you’re ready to take the next step, I’d love to connect and see how we can work together to support your journey.
Rest assured, I know how nerve-wrecking, and even scary, it can be to walk into your first therapy session. Whether I'm your first therapist, or your 20th, there's usually a degree of anxiety opening up with a new provider. That's why I aim to make our first session as safe and relaxed as possible. You can count on me to acknowledge the effort it takes to come to a first session, provide an open and warm space, and most importantly, encourage you to share your story with me as quickly or slowly as you feel comfortable. My only expectations for our first session is that we get through housekeeping (important paperwork) and have time to talk about how you're feeling about beginning a new therapy journey.
My superpowers as a provider are using a little technique called "the here and now." When you work with me, you can expect that I will help you slow down, pause, and really pay attention to what is happening to you in the moment. Often, that is where we will find what is most important- your truth! You can trust that I will help you, when you're ready, to take a look in the mirror and work to love what you see.
The clients I'm best positioned to serve are the ones who recognize they're hurting, need to make a change somewhere in their life, or just want to find peace. Often when folks start therapy, they have no idea what they actually expect to do in sessions, but they do know something isn't right and they need help. To say it simply, they're a little lost. As a therapist, I strive to help clients find their path by defining what's really going on, making a plan to tackle any issues, and encouraging change where it's needed.
CBT lives in my psychotherapy tool box to help clients learn about how what they think, feel, and do actually interact and impact one another. I believe that with better understanding of how we humans function, the better we are to help ourselves heal and grow.
I use compassion-focused therapy to aid in developing, changing, and improving a very important relationship: the one you have with yourself. You can't heal tough feelings with more self-shaming!
What I love about mindfulness-based therapy is its ability to help slow down the process and allow for deeper and more meaningful therapy work. Don't be fooled, slowing down is tougher than it sounds. But I'm here to help you through the tough work because the last thing you need is to feel even more alone in your experience.
Every individual is unique, and your therapy experience should reflect that. My approach is tailored to you, ensuring that we use the most valuable and evidence-based tools to support your growth. I believe in authenticity—our work together isn’t about clinical analysis, but rather about creating a genuine connection where you feel safe to be yourself. Through warmth, emotional support, and validation, I strive to provide a space where you can explore your thoughts and feelings freely. Together, we will foster self-discovery, helping you gain deeper insight and realize your true potential.
Therapy without psychoeducation is like trying to drive a car without any wheels- you can be ready to go, but you're not going to get anywhere without the right tools. I use psychoeducation as a tool to help you develop the right skills and strategies to get you where you want to go.
