Welcome! Life can be challenging, but solutions don't have to be...finding the right support can make all the difference. I'm Darlene Mayers, a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in Florida with over 30 years of experience working with individuals, couples, families, children, and adolescents. I specialize in trauma recovery, women’s issues, anxiety, faith-based therapy, couples and family therapy. My approach is client-centered, compassionate, respectful, and interactive. I tailor each treatment plan to meet your unique needs, drawing from a blend of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, mindfulness-based strategies, narrative therapy, and Biblical principles when desired. Whether you're seeking healing, personal growth, stronger relationships, or guidance through life’s transitions, I’m here to walk alongside you with encouragement, practical tools, and genuine support." Healing is possible, and I would be honored to walk alongside you on your journey."
In the first session, clients can expect a welcoming, supportive environment where we focus on getting to know each other and building a foundation of trust. I’ll ask questions to better understand your background, current challenges, and what you hope to achieve through therapy. We'll talk about what’s been bringing you in, explore your goals, and begin creating a plan tailored to your needs. Most importantly, the first session is a chance for you to feel heard, ask any questions you have, and begin feeling more comfortable with the process at your own pace.
Over the past 30 years, I’ve been honored to walk alongside individuals, couples, and families through some of their most challenging seasons. I believe my greatest strengths lie in creating a safe, compassionate space where clients feel truly seen and supported. I approach each person with sincerity, respect, and a deep commitment to meeting them where they are. By blending clinical expertise with a client-centered, faith-sensitive approach, I help people work through trauma, relationship struggles, life transitions, and faith-based concerns at a pace that feels right for them. It’s a privilege to do this work, and I consider it a gift to support others on their journey toward healing and growth.
I am passionate about helping individuals, couples, families, children, and adolescents facing challenges such as trauma, PTSD, anxiety, women’s issues, family conflict, relationship struggles, and faith-based concerns. I work well with clients who are looking for a compassionate, respectful, and interactive approach — whether they are healing from painful experiences, strengthening important relationships, or pursuing personal growth. I also specialize in working with those who wish to integrate their Christian faith into the therapeutic process. My clients are often seeking a safe and supportive space where they can feel heard, gain practical tools for lasting change, and move forward with hope and confidence.
I utilize Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to assist clients with identifying and challenging negative thought patterns and behaviors that contribute to their emotional distress. Through structured sessions, clients can learn practical skills to reframe unhelpful thinking, develop healthier coping strategies, and gradually face situations that cause anxiety or depression. If the client has time and is willing, I may assign homework between sessions to reinforce new skills and promote lasting change.
When I work with couples in therapy, I focus on creating a safe space where both partners feel heard and respected. I help them identify patterns of communication and behavior that may be causing conflict or disconnection. Together, we work on improving communication, exploring each other’s love languages, and building healthier ways to express needs and resolve conflicts. My goal is to support couples in developing a deeper understanding of each other and creating a stronger, more resilient relationship.
When I work with families in therapy, I focus on creating an environment where each member feels heard, valued, and respected. I help families identify patterns of interaction that may be contributing to conflict or disconnection and work with them to build healthier communication and stronger relationships. Together, we address challenges such as setting boundaries, resolving conflicts, and improving emotional connection. My goal is to support families in developing greater understanding, unity, and resilience.
When I utilize Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT) in sessions, I help clients process and make sense of their traumatic experiences in a safe and supportive environment. I guide them in identifying how trauma has impacted their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors, and work with them to develop healthier coping strategies. Through gradual exposure, cognitive restructuring, and building emotional regulation skills, I support clients in reducing trauma-related distress and regaining a sense of empowerment and safety.
When I utilize faith-based therapy in sessions, I integrate Biblical principles and truths with clinical approaches to support healing and growth. I encourage clients to explore how their faith can be a source of strength, hope, and guidance through their challenges. Whether through prayer, Scripture, or discussions about God's role in their lives, I help clients align their emotional and spiritual journeys, fostering deeper peace, purpose, and resilience.
