I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor with 7 years of experience working with co-occurring disorders in a residential and outpatient setting. I received my Masters from University of Central Florida. It is my priority to meet every client's needs with the compassion, respect, and understanding they deserve while also being able to be honest and challenging when it is needed.
Our first session will be spent getting to know goals and build a rapport so that we can find the right rhythm working together. I aim to gather an understanding of what your expectations are and develop a plan for how we can achieve these goals.
My goal as a therapist is to enable a client to succeed for themselves, with themselves so that eventually (whenever that day comes) they don't need my help in the same manner as before. I believe my clients are competent, capable individuals with a desire to get better; the best thing I can do is armor them with enough skills/training/progress to be able to stay that way for as long as they so choose.
My primary counseling modality is DBT. I have been DBT informed for 4 of the 7 years I have been in clinical practice. Previously I ran aa DBT skills group in person in efforts to decrease relapse rates in a substance use population pool as well as using individual protocols for various diagnoses. I find that providing clients with structured coping mechanisms and ways to handle their obstacles to be the most effective in meeting goals.
I have been EMDR trained for three years and have used it in an in person, residential setting. I offer EMDR to individuals who may struggle with traditional talk therapy or have seen less than ideal results with other methods regarding healing from trauma, attachment issues, high anxiety/panic attack levels etc.
I aim to educate and empower my clients in their mental health journey using skills and support based out of dialectical behavioral therapy and EMDR balanced with cognitive behavioral, solution focused, strength based, motivational interviewing, and compassionate client centered approaches.
