As a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with over six years of experience, I am dedicated to providing compassionate, evidence‑based mental health care to individuals and families in rural, medically underserved communities. My background spans outpatient counseling, crisis stabilization, and comprehensive case management, allowing me to support clients through a wide range of mental health and substance use challenges. I specialize in clinical assessment, individualized treatment planning, and therapeutic interventions that promote meaningful, lasting change. Trained in EMDR and DBT, I integrate these approaches to help clients heal from trauma, strengthen emotional regulation, and build healthier relationships. In addition to my clinical work, I have extensive experience supervising multidisciplinary teams, improving service delivery, and ensuring high standards of documentation and compliance. No matter the setting, my goal is to create a safe, collaborative environment where clients feel understood, empowered, and supported as they work toward greater stability and well‑being.

First session

During our first session, you can expect a calm, welcoming space where we take things at your pace. I’ll start by getting to know you—what brings you in, what you’ve been carrying, and what you hope to get out of therapy. We’ll talk through your history, current concerns, and any symptoms you’re experiencing, but always in a way that feels respectful and manageable. I’ll explain my approach to therapy, answer any questions you have, and work with you to identify immediate needs and goals. This first session is about building comfort, clarity, and connection, so you leave feeling heard, supported, and confident about the path forward.an expect for us to start building rapport and I do a lot of reflective listening during the first session to understand what matters most to you and what is bring you to therapy.

Strengths

My approach to therapy is shaped by qualities that help clients feel genuinely supported, understood, and empowered. I bring a calm, steady presence to sessions, creating a space where people can explore difficult emotions without fear of judgment. I am highly attuned to each person’s unique needs, blending evidence‑based practices like EMDR, DBT, and CBT with a warm, person‑centered style. Collaboration is central to my work — I believe therapy is most effective when clients feel like active partners in their healing. Because of my experience in rural, medically underserved communities, I approach care with deep empathy, cultural awareness, and a practical understanding of the challenges people face when resources are limited. Clients often describe my style as grounding, validating, and solution‑focused, with a balance of compassion and gentle accountability that helps them move toward meaningful, lasting change.

Ideal clients

My ideal client is someone who is ready to explore their experiences with honesty and curiosity, even if they’re unsure where to begin. They may be navigating trauma, anxiety, depression, mood instability, or the stress of feeling overwhelmed by life’s demands. What matters most is their willingness to show up, even on the hard days, and their openness to learning new skills that support healing and growth. I work especially well with individuals who value a collaborative, down‑to‑earth therapeutic relationship and appreciate a balance of compassion, structure, and practical tools. Many of my clients come from rural or medically underserved areas and are seeking a therapist who understands the unique challenges of limited resources, chronic stress, and the importance of feeling truly heard. My ideal client doesn’t need to have everything figured out — they just need to be ready to take the next step toward feeling more grounded, empowered, and supported.

Treatment methods

Dialectical Behavior (DBT)

In therapy, I use Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) skills to help you navigate difficult emotions, build healthier relationships, and feel more in control of your life. These skills aren’t just worksheets or techniques — they’re practical tools we use together in real time. Mindfulness helps you slow down and understand what you’re feeling; distress tolerance gives you ways to cope with intense moments without acting on urges; emotion regulation teaches you how to manage mood shifts and reduce emotional overwhelm; and interpersonal effectiveness supports you in communicating your needs and setting boundaries. Throughout our work, I’ll guide you in practicing these skills so you can use them confidently outside of session, creating meaningful change in your day‑to‑day life.

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

In therapy, I use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to help you understand the connection between your thoughts, emotions, and behaviors so you can make meaningful changes in your daily life. Together, we look at patterns that may be keeping you stuck—like negative self‑talk, unhelpful beliefs, or habits that no longer serve you—and explore practical ways to shift them. CBT gives you tools to challenge overwhelming thoughts, manage difficult emotions, and build healthier coping strategies. Throughout our sessions, you’ll learn skills you can apply outside of therapy, helping you feel more confident, grounded, and capable of navigating life’s challenges.

EMDR

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is a therapy approach I use to help you heal from painful experiences, trauma, or memories that still affect your daily life. In our work together, we start by building a strong foundation of coping skills so you feel safe and supported. When you’re ready, we gently focus on specific memories or feelings while using bilateral stimulation—such as guided eye movements or tapping—to help your brain process what happened in a healthier way. EMDR doesn’t require you to talk in detail about the event; instead, it helps your mind and body release the emotional “stuck points” that keep you feeling anxious, overwhelmed, or triggered. Throughout the process, I’ll guide you step by step, helping you feel more grounded, empowered, and free from the weight of past experiences.
