About me

Welcome! I'm Connie, and I'm a Licensed Professional Counselor. You're taking the courageous first step of seeking help for problems that perhaps feel overwhelming at the moment. I have worked for 11 years in community, residential, and correctional settings. I am experienced in working with many challenges including Anxiety, Depression, Bipolar Disorder, Substance Use and Trauma.. I approach each person as the individual you are, and tailor my approach to you. I use such methods as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR). I also integrate mindfulness practices, using the body to help calm the mind. I offer a warm and compassionate space to explore your inner world.

Get to know me

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

During our first session, I will take the time to get to know you better. We will discuss your goals. What are you hoping to achieve in our time together? What are your hopes and fears as we start this journey? Let's talk about that, and how we'll reach those goals. I will also address any questions, comments or concerns you might have for me.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

I believe that therapy should be collaborative.. I welcome your thoughts. I will make space for you to share your experiences, but will also challenge you at times when a different perspective might be helpful. I want to work with you to accomplish your objectives.

The clients I'm best positioned to serve

My ideal client is an individual aged 18 or older who is coping with mental health and/or addiction challenges. They are willing to open up over time as they become more comfortable with me, and want to work together with me to attain their goals. They are open to trying new things in order to break out of old patterns. Their ultimate goals include learning coping skills to help themselves achieve their objectives independent of me.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

I use CBT to help you recognize thoughts and beliefs that are having a negative impact on you. Once identified, these thoughts and beliefs can be challenged and situations may be looked at in a different light.

EMDR

EMDR can be beneficial for survivors of trauma. It helps to process past traumatic events and reduce their emotional intensity.

Mind-body approach

There is a connection between the mind and body. How we think and feel in our minds can impact how our bodies feel, and vice versa. I have found that a more integrative approach can be beneficial.
