I am a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner. I prescribe medications, when desired and needed, and I provide counseling/therapy. I have been trained in Accelerated Resolution Therapy for trauma/PTSD, as well. I have a Bachelor's degree with a minor is psychology from Liberty University, a Bachelor's degree in nursing from Cumberland University, and a Master's degree in Psychiatric Nurse Practice from Northern Kentucky University. I've been practicing for about two years. I was a nurse/psych nurse for 7 years prior to becoming a nurse practitioner.
Our first session will be spent getting to know one another and helping me understand you and your history. Together, we will formulate a plan for your care that fits your needs. I believe you are the most knowledgeable person about you. It will be my job to use my education and experience to provide information about best treatments for your needs, the benefits and risks of treatments, and answer any questions you have so that we can reach the goals you set for yourself.
My patients tell me they appreciate that I truly listen to them and care. It is very important to me that you feel heard, respected, and understood. I encourage my patients to play an active role in their care instead of telling them what to do. We will collaborate together on goals, diagnosis, and treatment.
I am best positioned to serve clients with anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, trauma and grief. Many of my patients are also in recovery from drugs and alcohol. I have experience working with people in recovery. Many of my patients are also Christians. I am not a Christian counselor, but I am a counselor who is a Christian. This means that if Christianity is your worldview, I am going to use Christian principles in your care. If not, I will customize your care according to your values and needs.
The relationship between our thoughts, feelings and behaviors play a vital role in our emotional and mental well-being. This therapy approach is often used to help identify false beliefs that impact our lives and learn ways to improve quality of life by changing these destructive thought patterns.
I use Accelerated Resolution Therapy, which is similar to EMDR. It is a trauma treatment used for PTSD and destructive behavior patterns.
I am not a Christian Counselor, but I am a counselor/therapist who is a Christian. When a patient shares this worldview, I will use principles of the Christian faith to help patients integrate their faith for healing and well-being. I believe humans are spiritual, social, emotional, mental and physical beings and all components play a role in health. I will provide care and respect for your individual beliefs and practices.
Most people are interested in finding help to resolve a particular problem or pattern in their lives. Solution focused therapy is focused on helping you find the solutions to the problems you identify as goals for therapy. It is what it sounds like. It is brief, goal oriented, and focused.
