Hi there, I'm Farah Ali. I am a licensed clinical social worker, psychotherapist, and dedicated advocate for my clients. My educational foundation is based in psychology and social justice, having earned my master's degree in social work with a dual concentration in community practice and clinical mental health. Driven by a strong commitment to human rights and social justice, I am dedicated to advocating for every individual I work with and the communities I am part of. My Core Principles as a Therapist: Focusing on Strengths & Empowerment: Central to our work is helping you to more deeply connect to—and really use—your inherent strengths. This means looking for growth opportunities where some might find roadblocks and accessing both internal and external resources to help you make the changes you want to see in your life. Working for Comprehensive Wellness: Therapy is a place where we can work toward mental and emotional wellness, learn how to foster positive relationships, and discover a greater sense of balance and ease in your day-to-day life. Promoting Connection & Authenticity: The relationship we have is vital, which is why I work hard to make sure our relationship is a nurturing space for meaningful growth. Creating Safety in Being Seen: I strive to make our sessions a place where every emotion is valued, encouraged, and supported—yes, even the “bad” or “undesirable” emotions. This is the space we cultivate together in our work, and space that is here to help you more deeply see yourself, and be seen in your authenticity.

My mission is to help my clients cope with various challenges and improve their well-being, using the biopsychosocial model that examines the interconnection between biology, psychology, and socio-environmental factors. I employ evidence-based treatment modalities, such as dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) skills, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), mindfulness-based cognitive therapy (MBCT), motivational interviewing (MI), and solution focused brief therapy (SFBT). I am also working on certification for Mind Body Medicine through the Center for Mind Body Medicine and frequently use these techniques in therapy. I also have extensive training in geriatric assessment of cognitive and physical functioning, and I especially enjoy working with older adults. Additionally, I am a certified clinical supervisor with the Arizona Board of Behavioral Health Examiners, and I mentor and support other social workers in their professional development. Clients must be physically located in Alabama, Arizona, or Utah at the time of appointment in order to avoid a no-show/late cancellation fee if they are not physically located in these states for our appointment as I am only licensed to see patients who are physically in these states.

Hi, its nice to meet you. I have been a therapist for a decade now. Before being a therapist, I spent 20 years in Healthcare Administration with 17 of those in management. I share this because I understand the stress that comes with the "corp" world and management. After 20 years, I decided to change careers and utilize my skills in coaching and mentoring. I received my Master's in Mental Health Counseling from Walden University, where I also went on to get my Doctorate in Health Psychology. I am a health and wellness focused therapist, so I spend time talking about how to balance your life, your stress, and ensure you are having some fun in your life. Therapeutically I'm very eclectic. I use different techniques based on your needs. That being said, yes, I use CBT, DBT, REBT, talk therapy, and assessments as most therapists do. My primary focus is ADHD testing in adults, Executive Functioning, Anxiety, Self-Confidence, Life Changes, and Couples/Relationship Counseling.

I value honesty and keeping it real. When there is free time, I like to sleep, spend time with family, board games, and of course diamond painting/other crafts. I often work with clients to address anxiety, depression, racing undesirable thoughts, and handling day to day life. My counseling style is active, honest, and straight-forward. Many of my clients have said "Kea is a great listener who isn't afraid to challenge my thoughts." I take the time to care. For me, it's an honor to work together to make progress! One of my favorite quotes is “everything seems impossible until it's done” by Nelson Mandela because I know everyone can push past the uncomfortableness of change to accomplish their goals. I have over 14 years of experience focusing on mood disorders and any symptoms that affect daily life. I can work with clients from the following states: Kansas, Missouri, Utah, North Dakota, and Pennsylvania. I spent my last college years at the University of Missouri – Columbia (MIZZOU) earning a master’s degree in social work (c/o/2009). In my sessions, I focus on using evidence-based techniques such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (thinking processes), Strengths Based, Brief Therapy, Problem Solving, DBT (mindfulness), Moral Reconation Therapy (MRT), and Solution Focused to help clients improve all areas of their life. I am a facilitator of Making Sense of Your Worth (MSoYW). I have worked in various fields of social work such as: working with survivors of abuse, half-way houses, reunification of children with their families, youth homes, and psychiatric hospitals.

Hello and welcome to Grow Therapy! My name is Jennifer. I have both Master’s and Education Specialist degrees in Counseling, with a specialization in Couples and Family. After many years of therapy practice, I went back to school and, in 2019, graduated with a BSN in Nursing. I’ve worked as a licensed therapist in North Carolina for 17 years. I work frequently with difficult relationship dynamics whether in families or among romantic partners. I do quite a bit of work in trauma recovery, anxiety and stress reduction, resiliency-building, and identity development. Mine is a holistic, positive, supportive approach that promotes self-awareness and the interruption of unhelpful patterns of thought and behavior that lead to being "stuck". I teach mindfulness, yogic interventions and encourage gratitude and curiosity in my clients! In my spare time I enjoy hiking, dancing on my roller skates, beekeeping and chasing my dog and kids! I hope we are a good fit and look forward to connecting with you.

Micheal Franklin is a therapist that came from a blue collar family as each of his family members worked in Textile, Battery plants, and furniture factories. Micheal wanted to go a different path and be the first member of the Franklin' family to have a college degree. Micheal graduated from Western Piedmont Community College in Drug and Alcohol Technology and with an Associates in Arts in 1996 and went onto Gardner Webb University to obtain his Bachelors in Science in Human Services. Micheal realized the job market at the time wouldn't pay enough for him to make his own way in the world so he joined the Marines in 1998. While in the Marine Corps Micheal became married and had a baby boy and needed to increase his income to provide for his family so he sought out part time employment to work with troubled adolescents as well as to provide therapy to teens dealing with addiction related issues. Micheal left the Marines in 2003 and worked with adolescents in a group home for a few years and then became a Prevention Supervisor for adolescent substance use treatment as well as the lead treatment therapist for a Men's IOP Treatment Group at the Cognitive Connection in Hickory, NC. Micheal has taught parenting classes and has worked with Child Protective Services as well. Micheal went to the University of West Florida for his Masters degree in Social Work and worked in Community Mental Health while obtaining his hours for licensure. Micheal also worked in a drug court program for two years as well. Micheal has been licensed since 2014 and has worked with clients dealing with trauma, anxiety, depression, addiction, personality disorders, and life's transitions.

Frequently asked questions

Why filter by Utah rather than a city like Salt Lake City?

When looking for online therapy, you can see anyone that is credentialed in the state. We want you to find the best fit, therefore, Grow Therapy shows available therapists across Utah from St. George to Provo! If you’d rather see someone in-person, you can change the filter from virtual and find a therapist near you in Utah.

Will my therapist take insurance?

When booking you’ll be asked to verify with your Member ID. However, if you don’t have any of the insurances available you can select cash. Our therapists will have their cost of appointment on their profile. Individual session costs will vary.

How does the Specialty Filter work? Can I find a therapist that focuses on a specific issue?

The specialty filter is optional. You don’t need to check any boxes to see a provider. However, fit is very important when selecting an online therapist. If you have knowledge or experience to recognize what specialties you may need.

What are the "Clients say I'm" badges?

Grow Therapy asks patients about their experience with therapists after they have had a certain number of sessions. After enough responses, we add those characteristics to their profiles to help you find the best online therapists for you. We're still working on collecting this information from all our therapists.

Why use Gender, Age, and Identities filters?

Finding a provider with a similar life experience can be beneficial because it can be easier to establish rapport and potentially be understood quicker and clearer.

What to expect during your first session?

Your first therapy session is for you and your therapist to meet each other and to ask any questions that you have about the counseling process. This is where you can expect your therapist to do the same as they will ask questions to gain insight into your specific situation. In this first session the therapist is doing their part to gather as much information so they can better assess if they are able to meet your therapeutic needs.

Depending upon your provider's specialty, you may also discuss the methods the therapist will use. For additional information on therapy methods, please visit the Grow Therapy Help Center. Some people feel nervous before their first appointment, and that is totally normal! Coming prepared with a list of questions for your therapist may help. Remember, you're taking a brave step by seeking therapy, and it is okay to be nervous as you try something new.
