Hello! I'm Liz. I am an LMHC, NCC and possess a BA in Spanish Language and Culture as well as Sociology. I earned my MA in Clinical Mental Health Counseling in 2014 and is recognized as a Nationally Certified Counselor. My recent roles have been Clinical Director for a local mental health hospital as well as Behavioral Health Director for the local sheriff’s department. I also enjoy working with families in crisis. I have worked with families over the past 20 years in a variety of settings. I have served the State of Florida as a Child Protective Investigator for 5 years. Before working with the Department of Children and Families, I served as a Social Services Case Manager/ Team Leader for the Department of Juvenile Justice. In Massachusetts, I worked as a teen parent social worker for the Department of Transitional Assistance assisting teen parents navigate the system to achieve economic self-sufficiency. After graduating with my BA, I was fortunate to work with a local non-profit to help encourage at-risk, gang -influenced youth connect with social services as well as earn their General Equivalency Diploma. My professional goal in life is to assist individuals to recover from negative self-talk as well as negative messages sometimes instilled in childhood or prior relationships and assist patients build a healthier emotional quality of life.
My goal is to assist patients throughout their mental health wellness journey and create a toolbox of skills and awareness that can be utilized on a day-to-day basis to improve their overall quality of life.
I utilize Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Solution Focused and Reality Therapy to help clients work towards meeting their mental health goals.
I'm pretty straightforward. I also have had varied life experiences that can cause stress and anxiety and can relate at a higher level to clients.
