I am a Licensed Independent Social Worker based in Ohio and have been in the field since 2013. I graduated from Miami University in 2013 with my bachelor's degree in psychology and worked as a case manager for a year, assisting adults with managing mental health symptoms, i also helped with medication management, and assisted with supporting them in daily living skills, before getting my master's degree in social work in 2016. Once I graduated with my Master's, I then worked at a community based correctional facility for 3 years as a mental health and addiction specialist. I completed diagnostic assessments and facilitated individual and group therapy sessions for mental health and addiction. From there, I began working at an inpatient behavioral health hospital and assisted patients there with acute mental health needs and helped to provide referrals for outpatient treatment. Since 2020, I have been working with clients doing individual therapy and have been growing my private practice. I find it rewarding to be able to work with clients long-term and get to know them as a person while meeting each individual where they are; what their struggles are, what their successes are, see progress they make in different areas of their lives, and develop a rapport that is respectful and supportive. I have been able to gain a great deal of experience over my 13 years with a very diverse background through promotion and advancement, in the mental health field, and those experiences help me to navigate my therapeutic approach to assist with being able to better serve clients while we are working together.

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

For our first session, we will be able to go more in depth about what has been most bothersome and talk about some different tools and strategies to be able to try initially. We will be able to discuss treatment goals and what the client expects from therapy. From there, we will be able to continue to go more in depth throughout our sessions and build a variety of tools to be able to utilize to help with managing, as well as having a safe space to be able to talk and process through various thoughts and feelings.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

As a provider, it is important to listen to understand and to provide feedback that is relevant to the client. I feel like my active listening skills and natural empathetic approach helps with being able to hear clients while they are sharing and often times are feeling vulnerable and can support them in the way that is best suited for each person. No two clients and no two sessions are the same, so I take a flexible approach to sessions and work to facilitate sessions that are unique to the person each time we talk.

The clients I'm best positioned to serve

Often times, clients have something specific they are reaching out for help with, whether it is anxiety, depression, addiction, relationship issues, etc., but as we work together and uncover the different layers, the focus shifts and we discover how past experiences have impacted us presently, can identify core beliefs we have that impact the automatic thoughts we have, which affects how we feel and affects our behaviors, and the initial issue that clients reach out about remains part of our main focus, as well as a variety of other topics that get discussed overtime. I have experience working with a wide range of clients on a variety of topics, and even when working with the same client over a period of time, needs shift and change depending on what they have going on in their lives. I have found that a client that is motivated in trying to understand themselves, works to enhance an awareness day-to-day of how they are feeling and reflects on the feelings to help with understanding where the emotions are coming from to then be able to manage it more effectively, and someone that is open to receiving feedback and trying different strategies gains the most out of therapy. No one is perfect, and that is certainly not the expectation of anyone at any point in life, and especially during the process of therapy. I meet clients where they are and continue to engage with them in a way that is encouraging to work towards goals they have identified for themselves without putting pressure on the client.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

I utilize Cognitive Behavioral Therapy to help with bringing awareness to the thoughts and beliefs we have and working towards developing an understanding of the connection between our thoughts, feelings, and behaviors.

Dialectical Behavior (DBT)

Dialectical Behavioral Therapy can be helpful with building skills to assist with managing and regulating emotions and building interpersonal skills.

Grief Therapy

Anytime we experience a loss it can be a difficult, ongoing process, but utilizing Grief Therapy techniques, we will process through the loss and work through the various stages of grief.

Mindfulness-Based Therapy

Staying in the present can be difficult, but using mindfulness tools can help with being more in the moment, brings awareness to our thoughts and feelings, and allows us to acknowledge and understand where the thoughts and feelings are coming from, and then helps with bringing our awareness back to the present moment to be able to focus on the things that are in our control.

Positive Psychology

Even when we are going through a stressful or difficult situation, there are still positives that exist, but it can sometimes be challenging to identify those positives, and we can stay stuck in the negatives. It does not mean that we still do not acknowledge the negatives, because it is important to give ourselves the space to feel how we are feeling, but it can be helpful to try to keep the positives in mind as well, to assist with feeling more of a balance and having a different perspective.
