Hi! I'm a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) based in Florida, with additional licensure in NY and NC. I graduated from St. Lawrence University in Upstate New York and have been practicing in the field for nearly 8 years. I enjoy working with motivated individuals who are interested in exploring and adapting those thought patterns and behaviors that are no longer serving them. Feeling stress in your body and don't know why? Wondering why you can't get out of your own head or your own way? I'm here to listen, provide helpful tools, and guide you in uncovering your own strengths and abilities in order to work through life's challenges and ultimately reach your wellness goals!
What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?
I like to start our first session by exchanging introductions, including providing some more relevant information about my background and how I practice, along with something called 'informed consent,' so you can better understand your rights as well as expectations for treatment. The rest of our session will primarily focus on you, just as it should be! I will ask you more details about what currently brings you to treatment, as well as your background, former mental health and related treatment experience, and whatever else is relevant to providing you the best, quality care possible. I then like to finish our visit by understanding your life goals and how these might translate to your goals in therapy. This will help guide the focus of our work together, both in and outside of visits.
Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.
In my work over the last 8 years, I have learned that everyone progresses at their own pace. My goal is to meet you where you are at, with YOU as the leading expert on your treatment. I try to take on the role as an equal partner and active listener in this journey that you're on, providing guidance when needed, while understanding that no one knows you as well as you know yourself. I want you to feel empowered to own your strengths, accept your limits, and conquer any obstacles that get in the way of you achieving your goals, both in and outside of therapy.

VirtualMy treatment methods
Acceptance and commitment (ACT)
I've been using acceptance and commitment therapy in my practice over the past 6 years. As an evidence-based treatment, it has proven to help people navigate life's challenges by identifying and living faithfully to their values, finding acceptance in the uncontrollable, and learning to be present and engaged in each moment. If this seems to fit your needs and goals, I would love to teach you more and help you develop these practices for your ongoing wellness journey!
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
CBT has been the foundation of my practice ever since I started in the field nearly 8 years ago. In CBT, we'll work together to understand how your thinking patterns influence your feelings and behaviors. By learning how to better balance your thoughts with the positive realities, you can find better balance in life itself!
Psychoeducation
Another building block to better managing your mental health is simply understanding it. Throughout our work together, I will incorporate useful knowledge about how the mind, body, and emotions work to help us live long, fulfilling lives. I will also discuss how to better regulate these parts when they operate in ways that cause us distress or dysfunction. As they say, knowledge is power, especially when considering your mental health and overall well-being!
Motivational Interviewing
Are you ready to ignite your inner drive and make positive changes in your life? Not sure where to start or what might be getting in the way of you achieving your goals? This is exactly where motivational interviewing proves its usefulness as it helps guide our conversations in identifying your values, goals, and potential barriers. You'll be approached with a supportive and nonjudgmental stance as we work to make your dreams a reality through concrete, actionable steps.
Solution Focused Brief Treatment
I've been using SFBT in my practice over the last few years working within a primary care setting providing brief treatments, and have found this to be successful with a majority of my clients. SFBT is all about uncovering your strengths, understanding your resources, and utilizing these to overcome challenges to meet your goals. Instead of dwelling on problems, we'll focus on identifying solutions and building on your existing strengths to create positive change in your life.
