Maggie Alexander
I am a dual board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC) and and prior to this, Adult/gerontology Acute care NP(AGACNP-BC) , dedicated to providing compassionate, evidence-based care for adults experiencing anxiety, depression, ADHD, trauma-related disorders, bipolar disorder, and other mental health concerns. I believe in creating a collaborative, judgment-free space where clients feel heard, understood, and actively involved in their treatment decisions. My approach combines thoughtful medication management with supportive psychotherapy, practical coping strategies, and individualized treatment plans that empower clients to achieve lasting emotional well-being and improved quality of life.
First session
During your first session, we'll take time to get to know each other and discuss what brings you to treatment. I'll ask about your current concerns, symptoms, medical and mental health history, lifestyle, and goals so I can gain a complete understanding of your needs. Together, we'll develop a personalized treatment plan, discuss whether medication may be helpful, and review all available options. My goal is to create a supportive, nonjudgmental environment where you feel comfortable asking questions and actively participating in your care.
Strengths
Clients often appreciate that I take time to listen and explain things in a way that is easy to understand. I believe mental health treatment works best when it is collaborative, so I encourage questions and involve clients in every treatment decision. I use evidence-based medication management, brief psychotherapy, and practical tools that clients can apply in everyday life. My approach is compassionate, individualized, and focused on helping clients feel supported while making steady, sustainable progress toward their goals.
Ideal clients
I work with adults experiencing anxiety, depression, ADHD, trauma-related disorders, mood disorders, stress, life transitions, grief, and relationship challenges. I enjoy helping clients who feel overwhelmed, stuck, or unsure of their next steps, as well as those seeking better emotional balance, improved focus, healthier coping skills, and greater self-confidence. Whether you're new to mental health treatment or returning after previous care, I provide a supportive, collaborative approach tailored to your unique goals and circumstances.
Treatment methods
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
I incorporate CBT into treatment by helping clients identify unhelpful thought patterns, develop healthier perspectives, and practice practical coping skills. My goal is to provide tools clients can use in everyday life to better manage anxiety, depression, stress, ADHD-related challenges, and other mental health concerns while supporting their overall treatment plan.
