Hi, I’m Dr. Bridget Anakwe. I’m a Board Certified Psychiatric and Mental Health Nurse Practitioner. I have worked in the psychiatric and mental health field for over ten years; first as a mental health registered nurse and now as a psychiatric and mental health nurse practitioner. I have experience assessing and treating adults and young adults with depression, anxiety disorders, mood disorders, psychotic disorders, attention deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

Your first appointment with me will usually be 45 minutes to one hour long. There will usually be a lot of questions and the long appointment gives me time to listen to you and hear your whole story. I will: • listen to you talk about your concerns and symptoms • ask questions about your general health • ask about your family history • order tests necessary to help me understand what is going on • start developing a treatment plan that's right for you and suits your health needs, personal preferences, family situation and age. • prescribe medications, if needed. I may also want to speak with other health professionals or members of your family.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

I am a life long learner. I am constantly in pursuit of knowledge because I understand the need to embrace change necessary to provide the best service to my clients.

My treatment methods

Person-centered (Rogerian)

I utilize a person-centered approach because I believe in the independence that you bring to our sessions. I do not judge or interpret what you say, but I may restate your words to fully understand your thoughts and feelings. I encourage you to not be a passive observer but to feel valued and actively participate in developing your treatment plan.
