Victoria Berrios

LPC (she/her)9 years of experience

I’m a Licensed Professional Counselor with a passion for helping children, teens, adults, and families navigate life’s challenges. My approach is supportive, down-to-earth, and collaborative—I believe therapy should feel like a safe space where you can show up just as you are. Drawing from evidence-based methods like CBT, DBT, and family systems work, I tailor each session to meet your unique needs while focusing on practical strategies for healing and growth. Whether you’re working through trauma, managing anxiety or depression, or seeking healthier relationships, my goal is to walk alongside you with compassion, encouragement, and hope.

First session

In our first session, clients can expect a welcoming, judgment-free space to share what’s been going on in their life and what brought them to therapy. We’ll spend time getting to know each other, discussing your goals, and exploring what you hope to gain from counseling. I’ll also ask some background questions to better understand your experiences and needs, but the pace is always guided by your comfort level. My goal is for you to leave the first session feeling heard, supported, and with a clearer sense of how we can work together moving forward.

Strengths

What makes me unique as a therapist is the blend of clinical expertise and real-world experience I bring to each session. With a background in mental health counseling, social work, and substance abuse treatment, I’ve worked across community agencies, treatment centers, and family services, giving me a well-rounded perspective on the challenges clients face. I’m skilled in crisis intervention, assessment, and treatment planning, and I use evidence-based practices like CBT, DBT, Structural Family Therapy, and Solution-Focused approaches to guide change. My greatest strength is my ability to meet clients where they are—whether they’re motivated and ready for growth, hesitant about therapy, or navigating complex family dynamics—while creating a compassionate, supportive space that empowers them to build resilience and achieve their goals.

Ideal clients

My ideal clients are teens and young adults who may be feeling overwhelmed by life transitions, anxiety, depression, trauma, or family conflict. I also enjoy working with parents and families who want to strengthen communication and create healthier home dynamics. I specialize in meeting clients where they are, including those who may feel hesitant about therapy or unsure of the process, helping them build trust and gradually feel more comfortable opening up. Whether you’re navigating the stress of daily life, coping with past experiences, or simply looking for support in reaching personal goals, I work best with clients who are open to growth, willing to explore new perspectives, and ready to take small, meaningful steps toward lasting change.

Treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

I use CBT to help clients identify unhelpful thoughts and behaviors, and work with them to develop healthier coping strategies. By teaching clients how to challenge negative thinking patterns and replace them with more constructive ones, I support them in reducing symptoms of anxiety, depression, and trauma while promoting long-term resilience.

Dialectical Behavior (DBT)

With DBT, I help clients build practical skills in mindfulness, emotion regulation, distress tolerance, and interpersonal effectiveness. This approach is especially effective for clients who struggle with emotional regulation, impulsivity, or conflict in relationships, providing them with tools to manage intense emotions and improve communication.

Solution-Focused Brief Treatment

I utilize solution-focused techniques to guide clients toward identifying strengths and creating practical, achievable steps for change. This method empowers clients to focus on their goals and what is already working in their lives, which fosters hope and motivation in the therapeutic process.

Person-centered (Rogerian)

I provide a supportive and nonjudgmental space where clients feel heard and understood. By fostering a strong therapeutic alliance built on empathy, genuineness, and unconditional positive regard, I empower clients to explore their experiences and move toward self-acceptance and growth.

Structural Family Therapy

I use SFT to help families improve communication, restructure unhealthy interaction patterns, and strengthen supportive roles within the family system. This approach is especially helpful for addressing family conflict, parenting challenges, and relational dynamics.
