Have you struggled to move forward in your life, relationships or career? Are you children challenged in school or leaving home? My career has been focused on helping people of all ages improve their mental and physical well-being. I’ve spent more than 25 years in mental health care, both at UCSF’s Department of Psychiatry, the San Francisco VA, and in private practice. I’m well-versed in evidence-based treatment and working with people to feel better. I believe strongly that people are resilient and with the right kind of treatment can move from getting by to thriving. I am especially dedicated to the families and siblings of those with developmental delays and mental health concerns. Raising children into adulthood is the most challenging job many of us have. When our children young or old are struggling, we struggle as individuals and families. I am well versed in working with school districts, regional centers, residential programs, and physicians to get the services your family needs to launch your child or young adult successfully. As a parent of a special needs adult, I’m personally well acquainted with the challenges and gifts of having a neurodiverse child.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

Starting therapy is really starting a conversation. And, just like in conversation, we start with whatever you can share. Once we have an idea of what brings you to therapy, we can start to understand the issues together and create a game plan together.

What treatment methods and tools do you utilize?

I’m well-versed in evidence-based treatment including CBT, DBT and solution-focused therapies that can improve well-being. I have specific training in the treatment of anxiety disorders, depression, mental illness, and developmental delays. I work with teens, adults, families, and couples to improve relationships, as well as academic and school performance. I am trained in "brain training "or cognitive rehabilitation interventions often prescribed for people with attentional, memory, executive functioning, and auditory processing disorders.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

What I have been told over the years by clients is that I am easy to talk to, have common sense, and have a broad knowledge of interventions beyond talk therapy which clients may need.
