I believe that where the mind goes the body follows and that your mental health is just as important as your physical well-being. As a PMHNP, I want you to feel heard and understood. My goal is to establish a therapeutic relationship with you from the first initial visit and build on that relationship in every encounter thereafter. I provide mental health care across the lifespan and utilize psychoeducation with medication management to improve patient outcomes. I focus on treating the person as a whole rather than the disease process alone. I would like for patients to look at their psychiatric treatment as a journey rather than a destination.
A thorough history is gathered from childhood. The reason for doing this is to determine how your experiences shaped you and your thoughts. It is important to incorporate the environment past and present into the psychoanalytical interview.
I have been in the medical field providing patient care for 14+ years and with this experience have concluded that the best patient outcomes are obtained when Psychoeducation and Medication Management are used concurrently; the patient should be an active participant in their care. According to the biopsychosocial model, a person's perception of health or disease is influenced by interactions between their genetic make-up (biology), mental health, and personality (psychology), as well as their sociocultural environment (social world). I take all these critical aspects into account when designing an individualized treatment plan for my patients.
