(she/her)
My name is Jennifer Lawrence and I am a licensed professional counselor. I enjoy helping those who are having difficulty with experiencing increased anxiety due to life issues and transitions. I also enjoy supporting individuals who are living with chronic illnesses and disabilities, mental and physical, with navigating healthcare systems and coping with living with a diagnosis. I completed my undergraduate degree in Psychology, a Master of Education in Higher Education Administration, and a Master of Science in Rehabilitation Counseling. I also hold a Certification in Rehabilitation Counseling (CRC) that focuses on working with individuals with chronic illnesses and disabilities.
In our first session together, we will begin with brief introductions, then identify specific challenges you are facing. This will help us to create a tailor-made plan for us to work through in therapy.
My focus is to assist you with deciding the path that you would like to follow, acknowledging the reasons that you are motivated to follow that path, identifying and learning the steps to follow that path, and supporting you as you continue on your life’s journey.
I have worked with youth, adults, and families through providing academic, career, and mental health counseling. I am passionate about helping people of all ages, from diverse backgrounds through offering encouragement and support as they pursue their goals. With my background in working with people who have experienced significant trauma, I have developed increased knowledge and skills to support individuals with various life issues.
Jennifer Lawrence offers therapy covered by Kaiser Permanente - Medicaid and UnitedHealthcare/Optum - Medicaid in Virginia.
I operate from a person-centered approach with a mixture of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, and Trauma Focused counseling techniques. You are the expert about you.
