Anxious? Worried all the time? Having panic attacks? Well, you're not alone and I can help! In recent years, anxiety has become one of the most common mental health concerns out there and it can leave you distracted, breathless, overwhelmed and feeling out of control. Symptoms of general anxiety, panic disorders, health anxiety, OCD and PTSD can be difficult to navigate, especially when you feel alone and don't know where to start. I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor, a Licensed Clinical Addictions Counselor, and a Certified Clinical Anxiety Treatment Professional. I have been in the counseling field for over 25 years. I've worked in private practice throughout that time but have also worked in the criminal justice and community mental health settings, helping people with anxiety, depression, and addictions. I work primarily with adults using cognitive behavioral therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy, and solution-focused therapy. I like helping people learn the neuroscience behind anxiety and build skills to manage it better. I love seeing people take back some of the power they feel they've lost to anxiety or helping them see the light at the end of the tunnel in depression or addiction. Taking the first step is one of the hardest, but things can feel better for you.

Get to know me

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

In our first session together, I'll get some background information about you and you can learn a little about me and the therapy process. We'll talk about what brings you into counseling at this time and begin thinking about the goals you want to work on moving forward.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

I think my greatest strengths include a calm demeanor, a positive attitude, a sense of humor and desire to help. Most importantly, I believe people have what they need to bring the changes they want. I love helping people unlock that for themselves.

The clients I'm best positioned to serve

I love working with people who know what they want (even if they're not sure how to get there!) and are willing to put some faith in the process. People up for a challenge and ready to make some movement toward their goals keep me on my toes and help the process work.

Today was my first session with Cheryl. She helped navigate something that has been very heavy to carry. Looking forward to my next session.

My first initial appointment went really well. It was easy to talk to Cheryl. I'm always hesitant about new therapists because I'm pretty guarded but she made it more comfortable to open up. Looking forward to working with her.

I just had my first session with Cheryl and I already feel a weight has lifted. She makes you feel comfortable within the first couple minutes and makes you feel like you are the only thing she is concerned about during your time with her. I am genuinely looking forward to my future sessions with Cheryl and getting on track to better mental health.
