I am a master’s-trained clinician with over a decade of hands-on clinical experience. My work encompasses individuals navigating trauma, anxiety, ADHD, depression, manage or improve addictive behavior, emotional dysregulation and life transitions (including women's issues). My work is informed by formal training in EMDR as well as, traditional talk therapy with a strong foundation in CBT and DBT—but therapy with me isn’t about rigid techniques or worksheets for the sake of it. I focus on helping clients understand why patterns exist, not just how to manage symptoms. EMDR allows us to work at the root level and utilize the integration of traditional talk therapy with CBT and DBT. Cognitive and Dialectical behavioral therapies provide practical tools for navigating daily life such as, mindfulness practices and working to defeat cognitive distortions that impact our relationships. I integrate these approaches thoughtfully, adapting the work to the person in front of me rather than forcing a one-size-fits-all model. Clients often describe my style as direct, solution focused, collaborative, and grounded. The bond that is created between us is the most important, and I believe meaningful change happens when therapy feels both safe, person centered and honest—where insight leads to action, and healing is something we actively build together.
In our first session together, here's what you can expect
In our first session, please be comfortable about this process - there may be some Q&A but it's a part of it. It's time for someone to listen who can relate, understand, achieve while providing solutions and SMART goals for the future. The first session is the most important. I gather the info to provide you with a treatment plan that works - if you work it.
The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions
Having worked with Adults with Mental Health Challenges for the past 13 years, I've developed a tried-and-true playbook for helping you (a) identify the root cause of your challenges and (b) create a tailored plan that leads to measurable progress.
The clients I'm best positioned to serve
I love working with those that are ready to change and if you are not, I will help to explore that as well.
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) is a psychotherapy approach that is used widely today in addiction treatment.. CBT teaches those in treatment for a substance use disorder (SUD) to find connections between their thoughts, feelings, and actions and increase awareness of how these things impact recovery. CBT is a short-term technique that identifies negative emotions and thoughts to understand the root cause of addiction and other mental health disorders. CBT can be combined with other types of therapy for a more customized treatment plan.
Daialectical Behavior (DBT)
DBT techniques have proven to be effective in treating a number of mental health issues, including bipolar disorder, anxiety and depression, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), eating disorders, and substance abuse. Mindfulness: This is the practice of being fully aware and focused in the present instead of worrying about the past or future. Distress tolerance: This involves understanding and managing your emotions in difficult or stressful situations without responding with harmful behaviors. Interpersonal effectiveness: This means understanding how to ask for what you want and need and setting boundaries while maintaining respect for yourself and others. Emotion regulation: This means understanding, being more aware of and having more control over your emotions.
EMDR
Eye movement desensitization and reprocessing therapy, commonly known as EMDR, is a mental health therapy method. EMDR treats mental health conditions that happen because of memories from traumatic events in your past. It’s best known for its role in treating post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), but its use is expanding to include treatment of many other conditions. This method involves moving your eyes a specific way while you process traumatic memories. EMDR’s goal is to help you heal from trauma or other distressing life experiences.
