PMHNP, 3 years of experience
Hello, I’m Donna Moore, a board-certified Mental Health Nurse Practitioner. I’m here to help you navigate life’s challenges and improve your mental well-being. My approach is compassionate, supportive, and focused on working with you to find the best treatment plan for your unique needs. I specialize in treating anxiety, depression, mood disorders, and stress. I also work with individuals facing trauma, grief, and relationship issues. Whether you're dealing with short-term struggles or long-term concerns, I’m here to listen and help guide you toward healing. As a Mental Health Nurse Practitioner, I offer both therapy and medication management. My goal is to provide a balanced, holistic approach that empowers you to take control of your mental health. We’ll work together to find the right combination of treatment options that will feel comfortable and effective for you.
In your first session with me, we’ll take the time to get to know each other. I’ll ask questions about your current concerns, mental health history, medical background, and any goals you have for treatment. This is a space for you to share what feels comfortable—there’s no pressure to have all the answers right away. The first session is focused on understanding your unique story and laying the groundwork for your personalized treatment plan. We’ll discuss what brought you in, what’s been going on in your life, and what you hope to change or improve. I’ll also answer any questions you have about therapy, medication, or how we’ll work together moving forward. My goal is to help you feel heard, supported, and empowered from day one.
One of my greatest strengths as a provider is my ability to create a warm, nonjudgmental space where clients feel genuinely heard and respected. I bring compassion, patience, and presence to each session, helping clients feel safe enough to open up and explore what’s really going on beneath the surface. I also bring a balanced approach to treatment—combining clinical knowledge with a deep understanding of the human experience. As a Mental Health Nurse Practitioner, I’m able to offer medication management, which allows me to tailor treatment to each person’s unique needs. Clients often tell me they appreciate my calm demeanor, collaborative style, and willingness to meet them where they are. I believe in working with you, not just treating symptoms, and helping you build the tools and insight needed for lasting change.
I work best with adults and teens who are ready to take meaningful steps toward improving their mental health. Many of my clients are navigating life transitions, managing ongoing stress, or struggling with anxiety, depression, or mood disorders. Some are dealing with the lasting effects of trauma or grief, while others feel stuck in patterns that no longer serve them. Whether you’re seeking support for a specific issue or looking for a space to process life more openly, I provide a compassionate, nonjudgmental environment where you can feel safe and understood. I’m especially well-suited to support individuals who are open to exploring both therapeutic and medication-based treatment options, and who value a collaborative, holistic approach to care. If you’re motivated to make a change—even if you’re not sure where to begin—I’m here to help you take the next step forward.
As a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner, I frequently use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) as a core component of my treatment approach, especially for patients dealing with depression, anxiety disorders, PTSD, and insomnia. I have received formal training in CBT and have integrated it into both individual and group settings. My experience has shown that CBT can empower patients by helping them identify and reframe negative thought patterns that contribute to emotional distress and dysfunctional behaviors. In practice, I begin with a thorough assessment to determine whether CBT is appropriate for the patient’s needs and readiness. I then tailor the intervention based on the individual’s cognitive style, symptom severity, and specific goals. I typically use CBT alongside pharmacotherapy when clinically indicated, ensuring a holistic, patient-centered approach. I also incorporate structured homework assignments and progress monitoring to ensure accountability and reinforce skill-building between sessions. CBT has proven to be an effective and versatile tool in my clinical toolbox, and I continue to pursue continuing education to refine my techniques and stay current with evidence-based developments in the field.
