Any provider can prescribe a psychotropic medication - but there is considerable skill involved in creating a thoughtful and effective regimen tailored to each patient and their specific needs. I would say my specialties are depression, anxiety (generalized, social, OCD) and ADHD but I treat all types of psychiatric conditions. I try to get creative and I am not scared to use 'outside of the box' thinking when other methods have failed. I refuse to give up.
The first session is usually around 60 minutes, it consists of a complete psychiatric evaluation and takes into account a variety of factors including: psychiatric history, medication history, medical history, early life/childhood, experiences, substance use, trauma, etc. The first visit allows us to create the treatment plan and to start to put it into action. The goal is to make sure we are on the same page.
I LISTEN TO MY PATIENTS. That is my number one strength by far. I really enjoy working with patients who have treatment resistant depression and anxiety. Seeing my patients start to get better and to heal is just so rewarding.
For me, I enjoy working with all kinds of mental health disorders but I would say depression, anxiety and ADHD are what I see the most and what I am most comfortable in treating.
I use a non-judgmental approach and I like to take my patient's personal needs/goals/finances into consideration when prescribing medications and creating a treatment plan.
I use my past experiences and experience to help motivate my patients and guide them in their recovery.
