New to Grow
Hi there! I believe you are ready to work with a therapist whose work is rooted in compassion, cultural awareness, and intentional growth. If so, I am ready to work with you! I truly enjoy supporting individuals in managing life transitions as they make sense of their experiences and move forward with confidence. My therapeutic work has primarily centered on supporting children, adolescents, young adults, and adult women in various capacities as they navigate identity, relationships, family dynamics, and life transitions. I am especially passionate about creating safe spaces for individuals who are carrying complex family histories, including experiences connected to incarceration, substance use, and generational stress. I believe healing happens in spaces where people feel seen, respected, and understood. My approach integrates evidence-based practices, psychoeducation, and culturally responsive care to help clients better understand themselves, build emotional resilience, and move forward with clarity. In partnership with my clients, I strive to honor past and cultural experiences, understand present life chapters, co-create visions for the future, and help build new perspectives and pathways. Before entering private practice, I spent years working with youth and families in school-based and community-based settings. These experiences shaped my commitment to supporting young people during the critical transition into adulthood, when many are learning to redefine who they are and what they want in their lives. My role is not to tell you who to be, but to walk alongside you as you strengthen insight, develop practical tools, and create the life you want. Lastly, I am a dual-licensed psychotherapist and Board-Approved Supervisor in Washington, DC, and Maryland. In my spare time, I enjoy books, coffee, and my fur babies, Joey, Bella, and Natalie.
The first session with me is special! This is the time when we began to build our therapeutic relationship and identify the work that we can do together. Your narrative will be heard, valued, and respected. The pace of the session will be guided by a trauma-informed, person-centered, and strengths-based approach. These are evidence-based approaches that put you first! Additionally, in our first session, we will explore your unique concerns and what brought you to counseling, we will start to formulate a treatment plan, we will determine the frequency of sessions, and we will celebrate your first step in the change process. Most clients say the first session with me is welcoming and inviting, and they ultimately feel they are in good hands! If there was ever any resistance to counseling, clients typically feel safe, open, and ready to share. You will also have space for mindfulness, laughter, and a smile as there is space to acknowledge the "silver lining," a sign of hope, and a new perspective, even through hard times.
My approach isn't only about processing feelings; it also emphasizes growth, direction, and action. My work integrates counseling, coaching, and consulting to create a whole-person support model that is especially helpful for individuals to figure out their life direction. I truly enjoy focusing on navigating transitions, such as college, independence, family expectations, career direction, and emotional well-being. Additionally, my practice is inspired by the Rooted Growth Framework, which helps you heal from the past, ground yourself in values and identity, and grow intentionally into the future. My clients will leave with clearer self-understanding, healthier boundaries, tools to manage stress and emotions, direction in relationships, schools, and career, and greater confidence in their voice and decisions. After our work together, my clients will feel grounded, confident, supported, and emotionally lighter.
I am ready to work with individuals who have taken the first step in the change process: acknowledging a need for counseling. I am excited to work with high schoolers, college students, and young adults who are seeking help during this major life transition to adulthood. I am equally happy to work with adults who are looking for ways to manage anxiety, process grief, work through family conflict, cope with growing children, and changing parenting dynamics. Also, I am committed to working with individuals who would like to invest in themselves by focusing on self-care, self-esteem, rest, and recovery, especially after trauma, burnout, and compassion fatigue.
Family Therapy
I use family therapy because no one exists in isolation. Even when one person is struggling, the patterns, communication styles, and relationships around them often play a role. When we work together as a family, we can understand those patterns and create healthier ways of supporting each other.
Psychoeducation
I use psychoeducation because understanding what's happening in your mind and body can make things feel less scary and more manageable. When you know why you are experiencing certain thoughts, emotions, or reactions, it often reduces self-blame and confusion. Psychoeducation helps you see that many of your responses are normal reactions to stress, trauma, or life challenges- not personal failures. It also gives you practical tools and strategies so you can feel more in control between sessions.
Culturally Sensitive Therapy
I do not assume everyone sees the world the same way. Instead, I want to understand what matters to you- your family, traditions, beliefs, identity, and experiences, so that our work together truly fits you.
Solution Focused Brief Treatment
This approach allows us to focus on identifying your strengths and creating practical steps toward the future you want, rather than spending a lot of time analyzing the past.
Trauma-Focused CBT
Trauma can change the way we think about ourselves, other people, and the world. TF-CBT helps you gently process what happened, learn coping skills to manage big emotions, and build healthier, more balanced thoughts. We move at a pace that feels safe, and you are never forced to share more beyond comfort.
