Hi, I am Veronica Dillard. As a Licensed Clinical Social Worker serving DC, Maryland, and Virginia, I bring a wealth of experience and passion to helping individuals navigate life's challenges. My clinical practice is centered around youth and young adults, where I aim to provide comprehensive support in managing various stressors.

My clinical practice is centered around youth and young adults, where I aim to provide comprehensive support in managing various stressors. Whether it's peer relationships, family dynamics, academic pressures, life transitions or mental health concerns like depression, anxiety, and anger, I work alongside clients to develop coping strategies and foster resilience. I believe in the power of joy even amidst challenges, and I strive to infuse positivity and laughter into our sessions. By adopting a strengths-based approach, I help clients tap into their internal resources to effectively manage stressors and find moments of joy.

First session

During our first session we will explore current needs and strengths. By exploring needs we will identify goals for our work together and explore ways that we will accomplish our goals.

Strengths

After 10 years of experience I have mastered a nonjudgemental approach in my work with clients. I am a great listener and I utilize sessions to explore how and why the client has gotten to their current situation. I provide space for clients to say the things that they really feel and do not judge them for their feelings or thoughts.

Ideal clients

I enjoy working with Teens ages 14-18 who may be navigating school stress, transitions and interpersonal relationships. I also enjoy working with Young Adults as they navigate the transition into adulthood (18-30)

Treatment methods

Christian Counseling

I can incorporate Christian principles into sessions if clients are interested.

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

I incorporate CBT principles in all sessions. I explore cognitive distortions with clients consistently and how these impact current functioning.

Eclectic

I utilize the approach that is most appropriate for the clients presenting concern.

Motivational Interviewing

I assist clients in exploring their interest in changing their current situation while identifying action steps that can be helpful.

Veronica was a friend referral. I’m very happy with style. And the way she makes it easy to talk about what my problems are. She makes me feel heard.
